OUR WEEK STRIKE Telephone Union Denies Vandalism The Communication Work ers of America strike against General Telephone Co was almost four weeks old today and no negotiations were planned at Santa Monica Two new cases of vandalism were reported by the com pany and it posted a $1000 reward for information lead ing to the arrest and convic tion of anyone willfully dam aging company property At Vandenberg Air orce Base CWA pickets who had been on duty at four perimeter locations yesterday were re moved at 7:30 am today aft er a consultation last night with National Labor Relations Board officials Picketing continued at the main gate as it has since the strike be gan on Oct 19 A Vandenberg AB spokes Board Orcult Decision to Become Guide Decisions made by the coun ty supervisors yesterday in determining that there were sufficient protests to the Or cutt incorporation proposal to force the board to terminate proceedings are expected to guide other incorporation pro ceedings in the future in the county This was forecast by some officials in the Courthouse to day They anticipating any court action by the pro ponents of incorporation of Or cutt to try to upset the decision The were without service in Long Beach because of cut telephone cables and repairs would take several days An other act of alleged vandalism was reported in the San Ber nardino area where a 200 wire underground cable was cut disrupting service for 55 homes and some public tele phones are not involved of a union spokesman said are any of our peo ple The only thing we can do at this point is to around the compa Goleta central office saw a school bus coming toward them with a fire going on it They flagged down the driver Ann Pickett who did not see the fire around a faulty brake and put it out with an extin guisher on the bus Joe Bazzi Herbert Peacock Tom Gwinn and Harry Blethrow were the pickets The children were unhurt and there was little damage to the bus In another local incident Apartment Plans Given Approval The City Architectural Board of Review yesterday afternoon approved plans for two apart ment projects and suggested that more study be given to two more sets of plans An 11 unit $96000 project for Duncan Zamora at 53 Ocean View Ave was sent back to the applicants for a number of revisions as were plans for a three unit $23500 project for Sylvester Bur gess at 816
