List 4-H Baby Beef Winners Record Number Of Entries By 4-H Members . The 1965 beef show at the Kossutli County Fair was a huge success with nearly 400 animals and their owners participating. * The grand champion as judged by Marion Fitzgerald, Tipton, Iowa, an extension livestock specialist, was granted to Diane Utliof, Fenton, with her fine Shorthorn. Reserved champion went to another Shorthorn owned by Petrea Thoreson, Swea City. Petrea also won the showmanship trophy. Rate of gain winner was Steve Koons, Armstrong. Champions and reserve champions other than Shorthorn were - Herefords, Janice and Ray Erpelding, Bode; Angus, Dennis Uthof, Fenton and Ken Erpelding, Bode and carcass, Gary Laabs, Lone Rock and Kathy Besch, Whittemore. He had the senior yearling Shorthorn bull entry, the champion two- year female, and won the reserve championship in the senior bull entry, as well as other awards, in the livestock show. Veda Doyle Of Bancroft Dies Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Veda Doyle, 59, of rural Bancroft, who died Friday at St. Ann hospital at Algona. Last rites were at 9:30 a. m. at St. John's Catholic church at Bancroft, with Msgr. Joseph H. Schultes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Garry Funeral Home of Bancroft was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Doyle was born Veda Rahe, April 18, 1906 at Bancroft. She was graduated from St. John's high school in Bancroft, attended a college inDu- buque, and taught in a rural school near Bancroft before her marriage, Aug. 26, 1929, to Raymond Doyle of Bancroft, and the couple farmed in the area. After Mr. Doyle's death in 1958, Mrs. Doyle continued to farm. Mrs. Doyle is survived by seven sons and three daughters. They are William, Arthur, James, Robert, Charles, all at home, Raymond of Chicago and Tiiomas, witn tne Air Force in San Antonio, Tex.; Mrs. David Sweet of Algona, Mrs. Homer Miller of Elkhart, In., and Miss Katherine Doyle of Elkhart, Ind. There are 11 grandcliildren, Two brothers and five sisters also survive: George and Rudolph Rahe, Mrs. Walter Deitering, Mrs. Walter Menke, Mrs. Norman Soever and Miss Catherine Rahe, all of Bancroft, and Mrs, Arnold Hatten of Austin, Minn. Fire Damage Fire late Saturday night damaged a davenport and chair at the home of Charles Elbert on West Nebraska street here. Firemen were called to the scene and put out the blaze. There was also some smoke in the house. Algona (la.)
