BY RUTH SfflERK CAROLE HAYES, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hayes, arrived Friday evening and is spending the week with her parents. Sie drove from Columbus, Ohio, with Muriel Hanson of Mankato, Minn., who was a weekend guest of the Hayes. Carole will return to Columbus next Tuesday by plane to assume duties at the YWCA there. DR. AND MRS. Harold Erickson and family will visit her brother, Dr. O. D. Anderson and family, Mankato, Minn., Monday. MRS. DON Hutchison returned yesterday (Wed.) from San Francisco, Calif., where she had been called for the funeral of a brother, Ray Schulze. She accompanied her brother -in - law, F rank Carroll of Des Moines, on the trip. MRS. JOHN CLAYTON and three sons of Columbus, Georgia, arrived yesterday (Wed.) to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Pletch. Her husband, Capt. Clayton, will join the family to spend the last week of the month here, after which they will return to Georgia. GUESTS OF Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Everds last weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Glese of Ames, a cousin of Mrs. Everds. Also, Mr. and Mrs. David Everds of Allison, with their daughter, Susan. Susan is remaining with her grandparents for the week. THE PLAY in duplicate bridge August 2 was for master point. In first place were Mrs. Harold Gilmore and Clara Zender; second, Mrs. John Thuente and Mrs. Lewis Ferguson; third, Mrs. Marie Hawcott and Mrs. Marie Kunz; and fourth, Mrs. J. C. Everds and Mrs. Beth Miller. The next play will take place August 16 at 7:45 p. m. at the Legion hall. LINDA MARTIN, daughter of 1 Mr. and Mrs. Leo Martin, will return next week after visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Bertye Deane, in Cresco. , SATURDAY EVENING dinner guests at the home of the Paul Puffers were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Schuldes and three sons, Albert Lea, Minn. MRS. C. C. SfflERK drove to Maryville, Mo. last Thursday to get her daughter, Delthea, student at Northwest College of Missouri, who had completed her summer courses. Delthea left last evening by train from Fort Dodge to visit her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony DiVenere in Schiller Park, 111. She will return to Maryville for the fall sessions about Sept. 6. CAROL SLONIKER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Soniker, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Russell Guster and son Dennis to Bemidjl, Minn, last Sunday. Mr. Guster Is attending a band directors' conference, while Carol is attending a baton-majorette school. They expect to be gone all of this week. ' DON AND RON Elbert and families have concluded a visit here with the men's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Elbert. The three families spent a week together at the Okobojis. Don, formerly of Los Angeles, left Sunday to go to Dayton, Ohio, where he will be employed. His wife and children will join him as soon as a home can be found, Ron and family left Wednesday to return to their home in Washington D.C, ROBERT MARTIN, son of Mr, and Mrs. Leon Martin, and Richard Feaster, son of Mr. and Mrs, Wendell Feaster, went to Cedar Falls last week for orientation previous to their registration at State College there. CHARLENE LaBARRE spent the weekend here with her family, Mr. and Mrs, Donald Ferris. She will be graduated from Iowa State University at Ames August 27, with a bachelor of science degree in child psychology. Guest in the Ferris home for the weekend was Don Connelly of Ames, SIR! NORTON, together with her mother have spent the last week in Con way, Arkansas, where she was honored with several showers. Her father, Richard Norton, and twin sisters, Leslie and Lynne, joined the famliy there last week, Siri's wedding to John Hartsfield of Conway will take place there next Sunday.
