Visitation a By Matt helms Free Press Staff Writer After a long career in the rental-car business, Richard W. Waskin returned to his true interest, history. He filmed documentaries on Detroit, including its trolleys and its old Polish neighborhoods. "He'd tell you the story of a certain block and how it came to be, what people lived there," his daughter Hetty said. "He certainly had a flair for it." He showed the videos at area historical societies and schools.

Mr. Waskin died of heart disease Monday at his home in Parshallville, in Hartland Township north of Brigh-top. He was 76. Mr. Waskin taught high school history in Detroit Public Schools before he went into the Army during World War II, Later he began working for Avis and was a vice-president until the mid-1950s, when he opened his own company, Aladdin Rental Car Services in Detroit.

The company grew to more than 75 U.S. locations and affiliates in England and South Africa. Competition from larger rental companies in the 1970s forced Mr. Waskin to downsize, and he closed the company in the early 1980s, his daughter said. Mr.

Waskin liked to recall how Charles Lindbergh used to rent cars from him on Detroit visits. "My father always kept his rental invoices." Mr. Waskin and his late wife, Lois, ran Poor Richard's Antiques in Brighton. He was active in theater groups in Livingston County. Mr.

Waskin was born in East Chicago, and raised in Detroit He received a bachelor's degree in history from what is now Wayne State University. Besides his daughter Hetty, Mr. Waskin is survived by daughters Kathie Gourlay and Wendy; a son, Richard, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hermann Funeral Home, 600 E.

District Court in Detroit to force them to clean up alleged unsanitary conditions. The chain, based in Randolph, claimed in lawsuits filed Wednesday that the five stores sold outdated food, employees failed to observe proper hygiene practices and the stores failed to keep sinks and toilets clean. It said those problems and others posed a serious threat to public health. The company asked for temporary restraining orders to force the stores to correct the problems. The cases are pending.

The stores are at 37310 Gratiot in Mt Clemens, 31080 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington, 940 Rochester Road in Rochester Hills, 2901 Rochester Road in Troy and 202 E. Fourteen Mile in Owners of two of the outlets insisted Thursday that their stores are clean and recently passed county health inspections. By David Ashenfelter Farmington Teen still critical after accident A 16-year-old Farmington girl remained in critical condition Thursday after a falling tree limb struck her Wednesday afternoon. Farmington Department of Public Safety Cmdr. Maria Putt said the girl was next to the pool at the Farmington Glen Aquatic Center near Freedom and Farmington roads when a branch fell and knocked her down, causing her to hit her head on the pavement.

Putt estimated the limb was 5 inches in diameter. Lifeguards performed CPR on the girl, and her pulse was restored before she was transported to Botsford Hospital. Later she was airlifted to the University of Michigan Medical Center.
