Upper D«« Maine* Cincinnati Reds Look Over 11 Baseball Prospects Here Garrigan high school baseball coach Pat Daugherty conducted a one-day Invitational try-out camp for the Cincinnati Redlegs, Saturday, at Garrigan field.Dau- gherty, one of four "recommending scouts" for Cincinnati in Iowa, was assisted in the 3 1/2 hour afternoon workout by Algona coach, Keith Christie. On hand for a look at prospects was Dale McReynolds, the Midwestern Scouting Supervisor for the Reds who covers 7 states. Four candidates from Kossuth County received invitations. They were Dwayne Hutchinson (pitcher) and Chuck Schneider (outfield) of Bancroft, Andy Moore (pitcher) of Corwith, and Ken Egel (pltaher) O f Algona. All but Egel play for the Bancroft Junior Legion team. Egel played for Mankato State College this Spring. Roger Meyer, of Algona, a shortstop, Bill Rahm of St. Benedict, a pitcher who hurled for Iowa State this spring, and Neal Waddington of Belmond, a pitcher, were others who participated. Also attending were first- baseman Jan Haugen of Forest City, pitcher Dave Chase of East Greene of Grand Junction, outfielder Billy Goodman and infielder Tom Goodman of Fort Dodge, and players from Wayne State, Simpson, State College of Iowa, and Buena Vista. Revoke Parole, Divorce Asked, District Court A petition for divorce was filed here in district court this week by Syvilla Juchen, plaintiff, against Edward T. Juchem, defendant. They were married Oct. 14, 1940 at Garner and the plaintiff seeks custody of a minor child, personal property and future support from the defendant, who is at present in the state penitentiary. The parole of Clarence M. Fish was revoked, also in district court. The defendant will be committed to the state penitentiary to serve a one year term as a result of the action. ADDING MACHINES & TYPEWRITERS At The Upper Des Moines. Bancroft Baby Dies Suddenly A 2 1/2 month old daughter of a Bancroft couple died Friday at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death, but results are not immediately known. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin V. Lium, took the infant, Jacqueline, to the hospital Thursday. She died Friday morning. Surviving are the parents; a brother, Brian, 6; two sisters, Laurie, 4, and Debra, 20 months; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lium of Bricelyn and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hill of Swea City. Garry Funeral Home of Bancroft was in charge of arrangements. $1,000 Damage In Titonka Crash Two cars sustained $1,000 damage in a mishap at Titonka Friday at 5:30 p;m. there were no personal injuries reported. The vehicles were driven by Ruth E. Beed, 16, and Robert W. Boekelman, 41, both of Titonka. Hurt As Bike Strikes Auto An Algona boy, Michael Devine, 13, sustained abrasions on his left leg and bruises when the bicycle he was riding collided with an auto driven by Alice M. ilay, 39, Renwick, at3 : 20p.m. Friday at the entrance to the city parking lot behind the Elk Cleaners here. Michael was treated by Dr. John Kenefick and released, The boy was headed north and came around a parked truck. The driver of the auto did not see him and the bike crashed into the car.
