credit is due Miss Bertha for creating such a pleasant ray of sunshine iu this town of business and soberness The West Penn people have reason to feel proud over their work in the last few weeks To build a bridge like that over the Allegheny change the grade without interfering materially with traffic and handle the number of trains they did last week on a sin gle track without serious accident or loss of life and property is certainly evidence that masters and men under stand their business There a better managed piece of road in the United States than the West Penn report Journal George Huntley a brother of Mrs Smith of this place died at his home in Ebensburg on August 21 Mr Huntley bad been employed in the office of the Moun tain House Cresson for some time and was taken with typhoid fever which resulted in his death in about two weeks He has visited in Blairs ville several times and all who knew him held him in tbe highest esteem He had while quite young united with the cultured Visitor Almission 15 cents Com A Very Sad Accident The following account of thcdeath of Willie Sutton a grandson of Mrs Robert Johnston we copy from tlie Call and Herold published at Wil kinsburg Pa last Thursday afternoon occur red one of tbe saddest and most dis tressing accidents that it has been our lot to chronicle Willie Sutton a bright and intelligent little boy aged about twelve years tlie son of Mr and Mrs Win Sutton of Wood street was suddenly and without warning hur ried into eternity He with a num ber of other small boys was on his way to enjoy a swim in the Mononga hela river when he was instantly killed by an engine while crossing the Baltimore Railroad tracks near City arm Station As told by iris companions tbe unfortunate affair occurred in this way Young Sutton iu bis eagerness to be tbe first in tbe water was running down tbe steep bill which terminated at the railroad track in advance of the rest of the boys whooping and shouting iu the exuberance of youth uncouscious of tlie near approach of tlie Cumberland Express which was behind time and running at a high rate of speed Ou lie rushed and landed on the track in front of tbe train and was struck by tlie engine and hurled several feet into tbe air aud fell to tbe ground a corpse before the eyes of his compan ions who were near enough to wit ness tbe accident but not to prevent it although one of tlie boys saw the train coining but too late to avert tbe accident i he horribly mangled remains were gathered up and taken to tlie morgue in Pittsburg where an in quest was held and iu tlie evening tlie remains were brought to the grief stricken parents Services conducted by Rev Moore were held at tbe house on riday evening and tbe lit tle friends and associates were allowed for the last time to gaze upon the face of one whom they had loved Saturday morning bis body was taken to Blsiisvilleand interred there Tbe lamentable affair lias not only cast a deep gloom over the" family cir cle and tlie associates and companions of little Willie but over tlie entire community and tlie bereaved parents have the sympathy of Press On Saturday tbe Southwest Coke Company of which rick is presideut advanced the wages of their coke workers a per cent The advance was made voluntarily and caused an agreeable surprise among the employes The four works at Morewood Red Top Tarrs and
