But the Tigers won't reactivate him then because they have just 1 1 games remaining after that. "I told him just to go on home," said manager Sparky Anderson, "because, heck, we'll just have a few games left." Hiller had a very ineffective outing Sunday against Seattle. On Monday he was examined at Ford Hospital by Dr. Henry Sprague, and the recommendation was that Hiller rest the arm. The Tigers' team physician, Dr.

Clarence Livingood, said Hiller's problem is a form of tendinitis, an inflammation of a tendon in the left shoulder. a-Oevenshlre Stablo-Chorub Stable entry. tth-Purse 53,500, dm. 3 yos up, fillies and mares, a furs: Sunday's workout, and he said a weight-training program has apparently helped him get rid of the shoulder trouble. "The one I think has really helped is the one where I lie on the bench and lift 'em up from the sides and straight up," said Rozema.

"That builds up the front of my shoulder." Rozema has pitched only once since Anderson arrived as manager of the Tigers. That was the game in which he encountered the problem. Ironically, the opponents that evening were the California Angels, the same club which arrived in Detroit Monday to begin their final series with the Tigers this year. THE PROBLEM which sidelined Hiller has apparently been with him for some time, although the 36-year-old bullpen veteran kept it quiet. The shoulder apparently was normal if Hiller had several days of rest between outings, but was very painful if he tried to pitch too often.

Hiller pitched three innings last Saturday, allowing one run on a solo homer. He had nothing left on Sunday when he came into the nightcap in the sixth inning, and he was tagged for home runs by Ruppert Jones and Willie Horton while issuing four walks in 1 '3 innings. Earlier this season, Hiller indicated this might be his final year as a professional ballplayer. After 15 seasons with the Tigers, he was not satisfied with the way he was pitching, and he was unhappy at the treatment he was getting from some leather-lungs in the Tiger Stadium stands. A few weeks later, though, the longtime mainstay of the Tigers' bullpen was rethinking his retirement plans.

NOW HE'LL HAVE to take his latest setback under consideration when he decides whether to give it one more shot next spring training. Hiller was not at the ballpark Monday night, but Anderson expects him to be on hand to say his goodbyes Tuesday evening. Hiller is the Tigers' player representative. Assistant player rep Milt Wilcox will take over his duties for the rest of the year. a-a-CHlMM, Nearby In debut Judico 7 SOME DELIGHT 120 Upsotspeed Perrodin 3- TOADST'LPRINC'S120 Leek for late Strauss 1- DeHte Princess 120 Dropsanotch Thomas 2- Cunnlng'N Fleet 120 SlippedslnceHazel Brocgman 4- HarrletN.

To fill Hiller's spot on the 25-man roster, the Tigers took young righthander Dave Rozema off the disabled list. Rosey has been sidelined since June 15, when he had to leave a game because of a shoulder problem. IF ALL GOES well, Rozema will return to the starting rotation on Sept. 5 at Cleveland.

Rozema threw long and hard in the bullpen Sunday, getting up to work each time the Tigers took ibe field for the first four innings of the first game of a doubleheader against Seattle. He'll do the same next Friday night when the Tigers play Oakland, only he'll stretch it out to five or six innings, according to Anderson. I was happy to talk with him and he said he was sorry I'd been hurt." Although most of the people in Baltimore's Memorial Stadium had no idea he had been injured on his scrambling 15-yard run at the end of the third quarter, Danielson knew at once that something wasn't right.

"All I remember is how slippery it was, and as I got close to the first down, I could feel the defenders closing in so I decided to dive. That's when I got hit. It didn't hurt but I knew, sitting on the ground, something was wrong. "I went over to Monte at the end of the quarter and was thinking about my legs. Is my left leg DANIELSON huddled with Clark between quarters, was given a play to call and, as he turned to go back on the field, felt his leg give way under him.

He went back anyway, fumbled the ball and returned to the bench. It was a short time later, after the knee gave out on him again, that Danielson headed for the dressing room and the seriousness of the injury was discovered. Danielson expects to get out of the hospital by the end of this week and has no doubts about continuing his football career when the knee is fully rehabilitated. Knowing Danielson, it may happen yet but he'll have to work a little longer now. lst-3-year-dds i up; 4 Furs: Times: :23 1:00 1:1325.

BUT STEVE KEMF re-established the Tigers' two-run margin within minutes when he began the bottom of the inning with a double in the leftfield corner and then skipped home as Thompson and Summers bounced consecutive groundballs to the right side.

Barr had to leave the game when the next batter, Jerry Morales, hit him in the right shin with a line drive. Righthander Mike Barlow took over the pitching chores.
