Mauchly, 72, co-inventor of the first all-electronic digital computer, ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), which was completed in 1946. He did the work at Ursinus College in suburban Philadelphia, where he was head of the physics department, and at the University of Pennsylvania. Died in Ambler, Pa.

Carl White, 48, who as lead singer for the Rivingtons recorded such hits as "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" and "The Bird Is the Word" in the early 1960s. The group had been working nightclubs in recent years. Jack Holls, founder of Hammer Seal Ring Co. of Detroit, Boy Scout troop organizer, and former board member of the Lutheran Center and the Lutheran Bookstore, died Monday at Sinai Hospital in Detroit after a long illness. He was 77. "He was wonderful," said his wife, Catherine. "Everybody loved him.

He always had a smile for everybody and you never heard an unkind word out of him." BORN IN Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Holls was the son of Rev. G.A. Holls who preached in Buffalo and later in Maryland and elsewhere along the East Coast. Mr.

Holls' brother became a missionary in St. Louis. Mrs. Holls described the family as "deeply religious." Mr. Holls graduated from Johns Hopkins University as an engineer in 1926 and was the district manager in Detroit for Koppers Co.

from 1936 to 1952. After leaving Koppers he invented a piston ring for use in drop forges and founded the Hammer Seal Ring Co. which currently has four employes, two in the shop and two in the office. "It's a nice little cozy family business," said Mrs. Holls.

"It's just wonderful, all the customers were like his family." HE WAS active in the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver award for his activities organizing troops in the Detroit area. He also was one of the original board members of the Lutheran Center and the Lutheran Bookstore, serving on the bookstore board for more than 10 years. He was a charter member and former president of Outer Drive Faith Lutheran Church and an elder at Grace Lutheran Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 25630 Grand River, Redford Township.

He Is survived by his wife, Catherine; one son, David; two grandchildren; one sister and one brother. Burial will be at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
