Upp«r D« Molnei thur*doy, Mey 13, 1965 Girl Scouts From Algona Tour Capitol Sixteen Girl Scouts of Troop *434 made their annual Heritage Trip to Des Moines to tour the State Capitol and the State Historical Building May 5. They were introduced, through our state Representative Casey Loss, to the legislators and to observe how our state government operates. They also had the opportunity and honor of seeing Governor Harold Hughes, who spoke at the joint session on the right-to-work law. The girls traveled in three cars, driven by Mrs. Murray Mowers, Mrs. Clayton Pittman, accompanied by Mrs. Wayne Han- sen, and by Assistant Leader Ernest Hutchison, accompanied by Mrs. Hutchison, troop leader. Those who made the trip included Karen Baker, Lynn Buchanan, Theresa Beaumont, Linda Busch, Barbara Col well, Kristine Easter, Cindy Hansen, Jennilee Hutchison, MaryMcEvoy, Marcia Moen, Doreen Mowers, Kathy Senenfelder, Janice Strayer, Jean Taylor, Kathy Taylor, and Jo- Ellen Pittman. They will receive credit toward their My Country and My Government badges. Swea City Lady Is Secretary Food Service Unit Mrs. Alvin Richardson, Sr. of Swea city was installed as secretary of the Iowa School Food Service Association at its annual convention at Marshalltown last week. Mrs. Richardson is muiager of the Swea City Community School lunch program, has served as a county officer of the ISFSA and Is district chairman. The Kossuth county cooks went to the convention by chartered bus from Algona. Attending from Swea City we re Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Julius Hill, Mrs. Harold Anderson, Mrs. Eunice Sanders and Mrs. Harriet Patterson. Farm Reid Work In High Gear Farm field work in the north central Iowa area was In high gear last week and this as weather conditions turned near normal. Corn planting was reported as from 20 percent to entirely completed in the area, depending on the equipment and dryness of fields after late snows and heavy rains. While field work was delayed somewhat because of the weather, most farmers figured to pick up the slack in a few days of good weather. Nighttime plowing was not uncommon in some sectors, last week.
