WWW Page 2 A Statesville Record Landmark Wednesday March 5 1980 Judge Cathey Hears Charges Active Terms Ordered In Cases Tuesday in District Court Christopher Allen Nance 614 Golds boro Ave was found guilty on charges of misdemeanor larceny and driving with license revoked Judge Samuel A Cathey sen tenced him to 18 months in the county jail Nance was also found guilty to another count of misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor escape and sentenced to 18 months in jail to run at the expiration of the first sentence The following charges against Nance were voluntarily dismissed: reckless driving no registration no financial responsibility second offense driving under the influence failure to stop for blue light and siren disorderly conduct three counts of driving with license revoked felonious breaking and simple possession of marijuana Robert Wayne Nichols 1020 Meeting St pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor breaking and was sentenced to 18 months as a com mitted youthful offender Nichols also pleaded guilty to two counts of assault on an officer drunk and disruptive and disorderly conduct He was sentenced to 18 more months as a committed youthful offender to run concurrently with the first sentence The court also found him in violation of his probation and an active sentence was ordered into effect to run concurrently with the other sentences David Keith Barnes of the Taylorsville Prison Unit pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor escape Judge Cathey sentenced him to 12 months in the county jail to run at the expiration of the sentence he is now serving A plea of no contest was entered by Adolphus Lee Polk 2208 Kennedy Drive for four counts of second offense driving under the influence or each of three counts Polk was sentenced to six months suspended one year and fined $100 He was ordered to pay court costs not to operate a motor vehicle until issued a license and attend sessions at the mental health clinic Judge Cathey sentenced him to six months in jail for the remaining offense Work release was recommended Polk gave notice of appeal Robert Neal 715 Hunt St was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail on a charge of assault on a female Judge Cathey recom mended work release Mike Minton of ifth St pleaded guilty to three counts of misdemeanor larceny Judge Cathey sentenced him to 12 months Minton was ordered to serve one month of the sentence The remaining 11 months were suspended for three years with supervised probation Minton was also ordered to pay $100 fine and court costs Minton was sentenced to two years suspended three years with supervised probation for the remaining offense He was ordered to pay $100 fine and court costs and make restitution in that matter George Alexander Walker of 323 Garfield St pleaded guilty to second offense driving under the influence and driving with license revoked He was sentenced to 12 months suspended three years with un supervised probation Walker was fined $500 and ordered to pay court costs He was ordered not to drive until issued a license Judge Cathey ordered that Walker serve three days of his sentence Steve Brown was sentenced to six months suspended two years for two counts of assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats He was fined $50 plus court costs Raymond Smith Jr 1230 Wilmington Ave was sentenced to six months suspended one year and fined $100 for driving under the in fluence He was also ordered to pay court costs not to drive until issued a license and to attend sessions at the mental health clinic The court granted him limited driving privileges John Alvin McLean Signal Hill Drive was sentenced to six months suspended one year on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with blood alcohol content in excess of 10 He was ordered to pay a $100 fine court costs and ordered to attend sessions at the mental health clinic The court ordered that he not drive until issued a license but granted him limited driving privileges A charge of an unsafe traffic movement against McLean was voluntarily dismissed A plea of guilty to reckless driving after consuming alcohol was entered by Edward Bruce Marlow 612 Davie Ave He was sentenced to six months suspended one year fined $100 ordered to pay court costs and attend sessions at the mental health clinic Wade ranklin Adams 808 Eastside Drive was sentenced to six months suspended one year and fined $100 for driving under the in fluence He was ordered to pay court costs not to drive until issued a license and attend sessions at the mental health clinic The court sentenced Charles Maynard Grimm Jr 1816 Boulevard to 60 days suspended two years for making a false statement on an application for an license He was ordered to pay a $50 fine plus court costs and not to drive until issued a license Probable cause was found in the cases of Terry McCrary 1010 Seventh St who is charged with two counts of felonious auto larceny and one count of common law robbery The cases were bound over to Superior Court for trial Johnny Whitesides ourth St pleaded guilty to three counts of misdemeanor larceny Prayer for judgment was continued for four weeks Charges of felonious breaking and two counts of felonious larceny of an automobile against Whitesides were voluntarily dismissed A fine of $25 plus court costs was ordered by the court for Steve Millsaps of Statesville for being drunk and disruptive A charge of resisting arrest against Millsaps was voluntarily dismissed A $10 fine plus court costs were assessed against Eddie Gene Peterson of Taylorsville spinning tires Joel Larry Pickett of Wilmington stop light violation and Virginia Otis Smith 231 Sharpe St drunk and disruptive Judge Cathey ruled that there was no probable cause in the case of Ricky Wayne Nance 614 Goldsboro Ave who was charged with com mon law robbery The court granted voluntary dismissals to Karen Mundy Houston of Catawba stop light violation Jerry Brevard Moose of Cleveland improper registration Laurie Ann Walsh 208 Vine St unsafe traffic movement reddie Lee Williams 610 Brevard St assault on a female Terry Tyrone Mohler route 11 Statesville improper passing and Mary McLaughlin Neely 2209 Baymount Drive stop sign violation The court issued orders for the arrest of redrick McClelland and Steven Lee Hughes HOG MARKET TURNERSBURG A total of 286 animals were sold here
