DETROIT FREE PRESSTHURSDAY, SEPT. 5, 1985 3D arathon's Belle Isle stretch run straightened The revised course for the 1985 Detroit Free Press International Marathon, scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. is complete and in- i ciuaes one lmpor- rWTll tant change that I I should please most C-MCJ veterans of the Press will be held at the Cobo Hall Ballroom from 5:30 to 11 p.m.

Two bands, Domino and the Polish Muslims, will perform. Tickets are $5. Proceeds will go to the Michigan chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis The Stroh's Run for Liberty five-mile race will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 12 at Hart Plaza.

Proceeds will go to the Statue of Liberty restoration project. The free Run, Fun Fitness Expo runs from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Ontario Exhibit Hall of the Westin Bell, is one of the area's largest races for women only. The race is sponsored by Blue Gross and the Motor City Striders and offers an expenses-paid trip for the winner, to the L'Eggs Mini-marathon in New York City in June.

THE RUNNERS will head east on the north side of East Jefferson to Kerby in Grosse Pointe Farms and north on Kerby to Kercheval. The route will run west on Kercheval to Alter and on Alter south back to the north side of westbound East Jefferson. Near Belle Isle, the runners will head north on Field as in previous years. But because of construction on the East Grand Boulevard underpass, the runners will take Lafayette west to Concord, where they'll turn south to eastbound East Jefferson. They'll take a ramp to the MacArthur Bridge and the finish line.

Because of construction on the bridge, no traffic will be allowed onto the island after 9:30 a.m. until the race is Traffic off the island will not be affected. Pre-marathon activities: On Friday, Oct. 11, a pre-race party co-sponsored by Stroh's and the Free Hotel in the Renaissance Center.
