Thursday, Moreh 25, I".-," .v Pioneer Dinner For 20 Years Ralph Dlekoff of Algona, a longtime employee of the Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company, will be honored at a dinner April 23, in Des Moines for completing 20 years of service. Diekoff with four other Pioneer employees, will he taken into membership in Pioneer's Twenty- Year Club. Eighty-six Pioneer employees have completed at least 20 years of service and hold active meml>ership in the Twenty-Year Club. Gene Wittkopf Rates Honors Eugene R. Wittkopf, senior in the College of Arts & Sciences at Valparaiso University, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Wittkopf, Algona, was given recognition for outstanding scholastic records at the Honors Convocation held in Memorial Chapel at the University, Thursday, March 18. Students honored, numbering 217 in the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, the College of Business Administration, and the School of Law have received an average of 2.5 points during the fall semester. Wishing For A Biyer Won't Make That Sale! On Papal Work Is Held, Garrigan About 20 persons attended the conference relating to Papal volunteers in missionary work, which was held at Garrigan Sunday. Father Richard Zenk had charge of the conference. Featured speakers were Adolfo Franco and Mrs. Manuel Febles, both of Cuba and both instructors at Algona high school. Local chairman in charge was Father Edward Mason. Among those attending were Mrs. Henry Haag of Whlttemore, whose daughter Mary Jo has been in Brazil about one year. Also attending was Mrs. Charlotte Mergen, mother of Ray Harms, who has also been in Brazil about one year. Local representatives, Dr. D. J. Shey and James McMahon, attended the meeting and spoke briefly. Some opportunities are open to any who wish to work in this country as volunteers. RETIREE Fred Hauser, proprietor of the Hauser Manufacturing Co. at Nashua will be closing out his plant and business after 34 years of producing farm equipment and parts.
