Osape captured the team crown with 02 (mints, followed by Hritt, •44, and Alpona next, '43. First and second place finishers in districts advance to the state meet. Girls Fire Friday, Boys Open Sectional Play Monday Eight girls basketball teams from this area bepin firing in three Sectional Tournaments this Saturday niplit - with winners and runners-iip in the meets to advance to District Tournaments. Armstrong will meet Hiithvon at 7 p. in. and Sentral will tangle with Graettinper at 8:30 at Sentral Saturday. The other half of the Sectional will lie played at Terril. Ringsted and Cylinder are among teams that drew byes through the first round. At Thornton, LuVerne will meet Alden at 7 p. m., while Boone Valley drew a bye. Play in the other Sectional is at Titonka and Corwith. At Titonka, Twin Rivers will meet North Central at 7 and Burt will tangle with Titonka at 8:30. At Corwith, Corwith-Wesley will meet Woden-Crystal Lake at 7:30 and Lakota and Ledyard drew byes. Finals in the meets will be played next weekend. Meanwhile, Boys Sectional Tournaments begin Monday night at four sites in this area. Class A play will be at Armstrong and Rolfe and class B at Lakota, Armstrong and Pocahontas. meet Armstrong at 8:30 p. m. and Swea City drew a bye. Play at Holfe will feature Corwith-Wesley vs. West Bend at 7:30 Monday - and Boone Valley drew a bye. Burt will tangle with Ledyard at 7:30 p. tn. at Lakota and Cylinder will meet Ringsted at 7 at Armstrong, with Lakota Retting a first round bye. Meanwhile, LuVerne's toys drew a bye in the meet at Pocahontas. Bears, Bulldogs Try To Better .500 This Week The Garrigan Golden Bears and Algona high school Bulldogs will both be shooting to better their season marks in games this Friday and Saturday. Coach Steve McCall's Bears, now 7-9 for the year, can wind up at .500 - IF they can dump Emmetsburg Catholic here Friday night, then down Gllbertville Don Bosco the following evening there, and Coach Howie Stephenson's club can up its mark to 9dB and North Central Conference record'to 7-6 with a win at Clarion Friday night. Both coaches are out to enter district competition, which gets underway Feb. 22 at Garrigan marks - and Garrigan will have to sweep its final three-regularly scheduled games (the Bears meet Ft. Dodge St. Edmond Feb. 19 there) to do it, while the Bulldogs will have to get no less than a split in games with Clarion and Iowa Falls. The Cadets will be here for the season finale Feb. 19. Both are loop frays. Garrigan has not lost this season to the three teams it faces. The Bears downed Catholic, 62-55, belted Don Bosco, 73-47, and got past St. Edmond twice, 73-66 and 67-60, in earlier games.
