Robert C. McClement WEST FRANKFORT Robert C. McClement, 93, departed this life Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, in Herrin Hospital. Mr.

McClement was born May 16, 1915, in West Frankfort, the son of Robert and Nora Anna (Palmer) McClement. He married Mary Lange on Aug. 28, 1938, and she died May 3, 2007. He was a graduate of the class of 1933. He owned and operated IGA in West Frankfort.

He was an oil operator, president of the Bank of West Frankfort and director emeritus of Banterra Bank. Bob served in the Marine Corps during World War II, including the invasion of Guadalcanal and Tarawa, earning a Purple Heart during these campaigns. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of West Frankfort; past president of the Kiwanis Club; member of the Lions Club, J.C.’s, Chamber of Commerce, VFW and American Legion; and past member of the school board for Frankfort Community School District. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He is survived by a son, William R.

McClement, and wife, Vickie, of West Frankfort; grandchild, Melissa McClement-Engler, and husband, Stephen, of West Frankfort; great- grandchildren, Destiny McClement, Blake McClement-Engler, Grace McClement-Engler and Gage McClement-Engler; and very caring and wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; grandson, Bill McClement brother, William McClement; and sisters, Katherine Ann Magnuson, Faye Ramsey and Opal Weaver. Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in Boner Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Cash officiating.

Friends of the Bob McClement family are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Wednesday. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to West Frankfort Historical Society, and they will be accepted at Varis- Stone Funeral Home at any time. Donald Church MARION Donald Wayne Church, beloved husband of Dean for 61 years, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008. Mr.

Church was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Pike County, to James and Effie Ellis Church. He was a longtime employee of Saxton Coal and Amax Coal. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Dean; nephew, Jim Ellis, and wife, Carol; nephew, Tom Church, and wife, Kay; two dear nieces, Janet Western, and husband, Mike, and Lorri Edrington and husband, Tom; niece, Melinda Oakes; nephew, Danny Oakes; two sisters-in-law, Jane Church and Peggy Lewis; brother-in-law, John Lewis; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a special niece, Marcella Collins. At his request, no funeral service will be conducted. A memorial service for family members will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice. Rodney Irvin MCLEANSBORO Rodney Dale Irvin, 43, died Sunday, Aug.

10, 2008, in DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Mo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro. Burial will follow in Hickory Hill Cemetery near WalPole. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

today and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Glenda Lou Ellis CARBONDALE Glenda Lou Ellis, 74, died at 10 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, in Oak Grove Rehab and Care in Carbondale. She was born Nov.

10, 1933 in Carterville, to Curtis and Mary (Caplinger) Etherton. Glenda married Bill Ellis in Carbondale in 1951. Glenda graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1951. She played the flute in CCHS band; she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She received her degree in history from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and taught school for two years.

She received her degree from SIUC in Library Science. She was especially proud that she got to go through the graduation ceremonies with her son, who received his degree at the same time. Glenda worked as a secretary in the Medical School for Martha Ellert until her retirement. Glenda was a member of First Christian Church in Carbondale and she enjoyed sewing especially making dresses and quilts for her granddaughters. Glenda was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, and friend.

She looked forward to hosting the Poets club get-together every Tuesday evening in her house. Glenda leaves behind her husband Bill Ellis; son, Scott Ellis; daughter-in-law, Geri Ellis, granddaughters, Darbi Ellis and Heather Ellis; brothers, Richard Moore and wife, Betty Moore and Robert Etherton. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Etherton; father, Curtis Etherton; grandmother, sister, Katheryn Moore; and brothers David Moore and John Etherton. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Christian Church in Carbondale, with the Rev.

Katherine Graves officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the church. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church in Carbondale and Disease Support Group of Carbondale. Walker Funeral Home and on-site cremation service in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.

Rose C. Turay MARION Rose C. Turay, 89, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 3:46 a.m. Sunday, Aug, 10, 2008, at her residence. Mrs.

Turay was a homemaker and employed as a server in the cafeteria at Sandburg High School in Orland Park. Rose was born July 4, 1919, in Chicago to James and Matilda (Grenouillet) Kean. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Steven D. and Dolores Turay of Fraser, Dennis J. and Cheryl Turay of Dowagiac, Carole M.

and Steve Brumley of Carterville, Laurence E. and Rebecca Turay of Lake St. Louis, and Dorothy A. and John Petraitis of Orland Park; nine grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

In accordance with her wishes, following cremation, private memorial services will be at a later date in Orland Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Joy Bostian ANNA Joy Bostian, 78, died at 6:53 p.m. Sunday, Aug, 10, 2008, in Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

9, 2008, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. John Burnett officiating.

Mr. Snyder was born March 4, 1923, in Elkville, to Robert Lee and Emma (Rosenberger) Snyder. He married Maxine Farmer on Feb. 12, 1949; she preceded him in death Jan. 26, 2003.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Les and Bonnie Snyder of Marion and Lieutenant Colonel Bob and Diane Snyder of Biloxi, grandchildren, Christopher Snyder and Marci Skelcher, Rob and Jaime Snyder, Andrew and Tami Snyder, Mark and Theresa Snyder, Mike and Sara Snyder and Brittany Snyder; great-grandchildren, Ryan Snyder, Derrick Snyder, Landon Snyder, Trevor Snyder, Caleb Snyder, Colton Snyder, Casey Snyder and Chase Snyder is on the way; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Moreton Shively; and sister-in-law, Mary Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Wilma Barwick, Gerry Throgmorton and Ethel Rosenberger; and brother, Carl Snyder. Mr. Snyder was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle in Marion where he had previously served as a superintendent and deacon. He retired from General Telephone Company after many years of service.

Donald Eugene Queen PINCKNEYVILLE Donald Eugene Queen, 73, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, in Pinckneyville Health Care Center. Donald was born March 17, 1935, in Pinckneyville to William and Nellie (Morgenthaler) Queen. On April 4, 1959, he married Nadine Moody in Mount Vernon, and she survives.

Donald was of Baptist faith and a retired coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Queen, of Pinckneyville; one son, Toby (Erin) Queen of Pinckneyville; one brother, Harry Queen of two sisters, Marge Keene of Pinckneyville and Pauline Hopkins of Du Quoin; and three grandchildren, Hunter, Logan and Livia Queen. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry Queen; and one brother, Paul Queen. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug.

13, 2008, in Winkle Baptist Church with Brothers Jeff Downard and Dale Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born July 31, 1937, in Whittington, the daughter of Edgar and Amy (Homan) Johnston. She married Jerry D. Barnfield on Nov. 10, 1955, in Waltonville, and he survives.

Mrs. Barnfield was a member of Rescue Free Will Baptist Church for more than 55 years. She loved shopping and antiquing. Mrs. Barnfield is survived by her husband, Jerry Barnfield of Benton; three children, Wendy Barnfield Froman and husband, Mark, of Cypress, Texas, Leigh Barnfield Lynch and husband, Mike, of Louisville, and Cory Barnfield of Louisville; two grandchildren, Tyler Froman and Clara Lynch; one brother, Ewing Johnston and wife, Marjorie, of Benton; and two sisters, Irene Cross and husband, Charles, of Benton and Mary Corey of Whittington.

Mrs. Barnfield was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, George Johnston and Beverly Johnston. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with the Revs.

Janet Rose Shaw CARBONDALE Janet Rose Shaw, 57, passed away at 1:23 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born Nov. 9, 1951, to and Eunice (Gardener) Shaw of Jerseyville.

Her mother survives in Carrollton. She is also survived by her husband, Steve Kraus of Cobden; son, Chad Allen of Carbondale; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Amy Allen of Cobden; grandson, Connor Allen of Cobden; brother and sister-in- law, Clyde and Peggy Shaw of Jerseyville; brother and sister-in-law, Marc and Dorothy Shaw of Carrollton; and nieces and nephews and many friends. Janet was the co-founder and owner of HairBrains in Carbondale for many years of the business. During that time, she was very actively involved in fundraising and other charitable activities for the Carbondale community. More recently, Janet was focused on her family, in particular her beloved grandson, on her love for animals and her love for travel.

She was known for her artistic abilities as well as her quick wit. Heaven just got a little more fun. Memorial services will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today in B.C. Ross Community Center in Makanda.

Memorials may be made to The Humane Society. James Stephenson STONEFORT James Stephenson, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Little Saline Cemetery in Stonefort.

9, 2008, at his residence. Charles was born July 10, 1935, the son of Velta Pendall and Olive K. (Johnson) Pendall Williams in Zeigler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a retired truck driver and had been baptized at the Christian Church in Hurst. He worshipped God in nature. He loved to hunt, fish, travel and tell stories. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. He is survived by three sons, Charles David Pendall and wife Doris of Bush, John Edward Pendall of Bush and Michael Lee Pendall of Cambria; two daughters, Shelia Rae Haack and husband Randy of Marion and Dalonda Mae Pendall of Hurst; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Westlie Morris of Bush; 18 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; former wife, Janet (Holland) Hall of Hurst; one stepson, Frank Moore of Springfield; four stepdaughters, Carol Moore of Decatur, Debbie Hampton of Chicago, Kathy Hampton of St.

Louis and Cheryl Rutherford of Springfield; three brothers, Jim Pendall and family, David Pendall and wife Vicki of Herrin and Daniel Williams of Chicago; three sisters, Shirley Melvin Easter of Herrin, Tommye Lou Parliament Keefauver of Springfield and Judy Brown Simpson of Moweaqua; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl and Jackie Tweedy of Bush, JC and Peggy Holland of Bush, David and Shari Holland of Bush and Oliver and Viola Miller of Cape Girardeau; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. 7, 1967, in Carbondale. She preceded him in death July 8, 1978. He then married Patsy D. Johns on June 1, 1980, in Anna. Jackie is survived by his wife, Patsy D.

Evans, of Cobden; five children, Elwyn and wife Nona Evans of Atlanta, Texas, Jim and wife Margie Evans of Marble Hill, John Evans of Anna, Carl and wife Jennifer Evans of Cobden and Jacqueline Evans of Cobden; two stepsons, Daniel Rowley of Herrin and Cory Rowley of Anna; one brother, Andrew Rufus Evans of Brookport; one sister, Doris Blake of Vienna; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ethel Jackson Evans; and granddaughter, Jean Renee (Gibbs) Solomon. Jackie served in the U.S. Army and was a retired machinist from Florsheim Shoe Factory. Services will be at 1 p.m.
