Jerry spent his working years operating heavy equipment dozers and back- hoes.He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 318.He enjoyed fishing and was an avid gun collector. The pride of his life was his eight grandsons and his great-granddaughter; he was a wonderful Papa.

Jerry was previously married to Elaine Davis Eigenmann and together they had four children. Survivors include his Chapman and Debbie Abbott and husband, of Marion; son, Danny Davis and of Marion; grandchildren, Joshua Chapman of St. Chapman and Marion, Daniel at U.S.Air Force Base in Abbott, Steven Abbott and Luke Julian Davis and Chancellor Davis all of Marion; great-granddaugh- Chapman of Marion; Davis of two Rice and Centralia and Lois Propes and Marion; and several and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Glenn Allen passed away in infancy. John was a longtime resident of Anna.He spent his early years in Goreville where he graduated from high school and was a standout multi-sport athlete.He served in the U.S.Navy during World War II and later moved to Anna where he owned Crawford LP Gas Plant and Appliance Store and a bowling alley. He served on the school his baseball a and on the Economic Development a golf member of Union County Country Club and served as president of the Illinois LP Gas Association. He was an avid sportsman, accomplished family man, loyal friend of many and faithful Sunday school teacher and deacon of First Baptist Church in Anna. He was born Jan.12,1932,in sixth child to Herbert and Ethel (Jones) McClerren. He married Myette EllaJean (McCullough) McClerren on Jan.1,1953. He is survived by EllaJean, his devoted and loving spouse of 57 years; three Grimes and New McClerren and (whom he considered a daughter to Thompsonville and Russell McClerren and wife, Thompsonville; McClerren and husband, Matt Shook and husband, McClerren and Stephanie McLaren and McClerren, Grace McLain and Olivia McClerren; and Lyra Shook and Keegan McLaren; one Browning of Benton; two brothers, Bueford McClerren and Mount Vernon and the Rev. Kenneth McClerren and Thompsonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Gene served in the U.S. Army from January 1953 to December 1954.He was a steward of the soil. Gene spent a lifetime serving others as evidenced by his participation on the Thompsonville High School Board of Education, Franklin County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Farm Service Board of American Legion.His service to others was driven by his consuming desire to serve the Lord in all that he did.At the time of his was a member of First Baptist Church of West Frankfort. Venita was actively involved in her community through her participation in Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Persons Service of Jackson County, Carbondale Garden Club, Carbondale Girl Scouts and multiple area bridge clubs. She was a supporter of the Republican Party and a long-time election judge in Carbondale.She also provided 30 years of volunteer service to Memorial Hospital of was a member of University Baptist and Murdale Baptist at Hearts group at Murdale Baptist Church and was a long-time Sunday school teacher and nursery coordinator at University Baptist Church.

Along with her husband, she was a co-founder of Franklin Insurance Agency, where she worked for many years.Venita also worked at Janello Insurance Agency and The Abbey (now Oak Grove Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center).
