centerfielder Brandon Beans signed with the US Naval Academy Monday He will study civil engineering and play baseball while at the academy He signed a nine year contract so when he gradu ates from the academy he will serve his country for five years as an officer in the Navy Beans reports July 1 for six weeks of training fol lowed by one week off before beginning his freshman year Principal Dr Charles Burry said the school hasn't had someone sign with one of the service related acade mies since 1995 a great Rhonda Beans mother said Last season Brandon hit404 with 29 stolen bases He also played receiver for the Red oxes football team making 23 receptions for 528 yards and six touchdowns this season 'His parents Brian and Rhonda were at the signing ceremony He also has a brother
