Editor When John Neil McNaughton and his bride, Christine Kemp-ton, exchanged their marriage vows Tuesday afternoon in Washington, a number of socialite Detroiters were present for the ceremony.

The young couple were married at 4:30 o'clock in historic old St. John's Episcopal Church. Besides the bridegroom's parents, the Lynn McNaughtons, of Kenwood Road, Detroiters in the capital for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Benson Ford, Mr.

and Mrs. James B. Webber, Mr. and Mrs. Richard W.

Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Miles M. O'Brien, Mr. and Mrs.

John D. Bayne and Mrs. Frederick P. Hart. The new Mrs.

McNaughton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kempton, of -Washington and Caracas, Venezuela. Since Mr. Kempton is attached to the State Department in the South American country, the family has spent much of its time down there.

Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. James Morton, of Annapolis, Md. James B. Webber, was the best man. When we talked with Mrs.

McNaughton via long distance telephone (she and Mr. McNaughton are at Washington's Stat-ler), she told us that the young newly weds will honeymoon in California until the first of October. Then they'll come to Detroit to make their home. Jones wore a black lace floor-length gown, to which she pinned a corsage of orchids. Mrs. Frank E. Caulk, Cynthia's aunt, who came from her Pasadena (Calif.) home, especially for the party, was in a street-length frock of Quaker gray crepe. Also assisting Mrs.

Jones was Mrs. Julian P. Bowen. Greeting the guests who arrived between 4 "and 6 o'clock were seven of Cynthia's contemporaries, who wore gardenia corsages on their smart afternoon frocks. They were Marion Wilbur, Mary and Helen Owen, Helen Livingstone, Joan Henry, Nancy Hughes and Isabelle Casgrain.

Partv-Packed Calendar FRANNIE STROII will always look back on the autumn of '46 as the most party-filled months of her life. With her mar- riage to Dan Simmons, set for Oct. 19, the young blond bride-to-be will be feted right up to two hours before the ceremony. Mrs. Charles R.

Murphy has a blue and white kitchen shower planned around a tea party on Sept. 18, to touch off the entertainment series. Elisabeth Robb and her mother, Mrs. Milton Robb, have chosen Oct. 9 for a dinner in Frannie's and Dan's honor.

There's to be a cocktail pour on the tenth, with Jorden Schanbeck as host. Oct. 11 is the date of both the bachelor and spinster dinners, Lanny Pittman hosting the former and Mrs. Edwin R. Stroh, the latter.

Ann Crouse will give a buffet dinner on Oct. 12 and the following day it's Frances Oberteuffer's cocktail and dinner party. Honoring the couple at the rehearsal dinner on Oct. 18 will be Frannie's grandmother, Mrs. Jerome H.

Remick. Prior to this gala, Phelps Newberry, will give a cocktail party in his home on Cloverly Road. List of Attendants ON THE AFTERNOON of the wedding, Mrs. H. Howard Bennett will be hostess at the bridal luncheon, for the wedding party and out-of-town guests.

Dan hasn't received word from all his ushers yet, but he" tells us that Lanny Pittman will be the best man. Sirs. Idell Lautmann, Mrs. Joseph Roth, Lois Wagner, Rhoda Lou Hayden, Frances Kaufman and Natalie Rosenthal, the bridesmaids, and Joan Allen, who was flower girl, completed the feminine side of the wedding party. They appeared In gowns of white corded faille, with full net skirts, with which they wore crownless picture hats of the net.

Their arm bouquets varied in shades of rose, lavender and purple. Marvin Goldman was his brother's best man. They are the sons of. the Harry Gold-mans, of Canterbury Drive.
