Monday, Channel 4's broadcast day was to start with the announcement that WWJ-TV, Channel 4, is owned and operated by Post-Newsweek Stations, Michigan, Inc. That's about the only indication a viewer would notice as the new owners take over the station from the Evening News Association, publishers of the Detroit News. IT WILL be July 22 before Channel 4 will start using its new call letters, WDIV-TV. (D is for Detroit; IV is the channel number in Roman numerals.) The papers making the transfer of ownership final will be signed late Monday, according to James T. Lyn-agh, who officially will take over as station general manager Tuesday morning.

The swap of Channel 4 and Post-Newsweek's Washington, D.C.. station WTOP-TV was announced last December. The Evening News Association takes over WTOP-TV Watching the movie "The Caine Mutiny," made in 1954, I observed that Van Johnson had a great many scars on his forehead that I hadn't noticed before.
