Ju lie Isphording make the Vir ginia Ten Miler a prestigious race it's folks like Bob etherston's clan that make the event successful etherston 61 two of his sons and his daughter in law got together this weekend to run the race Nothing unusual there except for the fact that sons Bob and Scott and daughter in law Honor are intown from Northern California Neat concept plan your annual family reunion around a road race It all began back in the mid 70s when the running craze soared ather Bob got caught up in it and by the '79 Ten Miler convinced his kids and daughter in law to enter the Ten Miler with him Dad's idea intrigued the kids all grown up then and they agreed What resulted was a new found enthusiasm for physical fitness "At 28" son Bob said "I gave up my sedentary life for an active one" His wife Honortook this running business even more to heart She had run track in high school but as an adult those days were long gone She became so enthused so competitive that she planned to run in the Olym pic Trials a few years back until an in jury put her on the sidelines Saturday she was gunning for a fin ish among the top 10 women and to perhaps even better her mark of sixth "place in last Ten Miler She reached the top 10 by finishing se venth with a time of 64:07 race is amazing with the Humber of elite runners in it" she said year I ran a 62 something 62:30 I think I want to be in the top 10 again because you get to stand up there for the awards ceremony with the elite runners" Scott looks at his brother and sister in law with respect the mega he said 'Tin particular track well But when the green flag drops at 12:30 pm today on the 500 at Martinsville Speedway everyone in the office pool may have an excellent shot at a little pocket money The first State at Willard May Stadium the Eagles will remember the lames defense and spe cial teams long after they leave Lynch burg The lames' blocked two punts inter cepted a pass ran a punt back for a touchdown and limited the Eagles to just 37 yards rushing while giving its offense two possessions that started inside the Morehead 20 Both cf the drives that started inside the 20 ended in touch
