The sophomore fullback rammed the last 17 yards in three plays, scoring from the two with 7:44 to go. Tureaud got the touchdown call after picking up a first down on a third-and-six situation. Stan Noskin, who redeemed himself before 74,693 fans, passed to Denny Fitzgerald in the end zone for two extra points after Halstead faked a kick. Oregon State, with only one good offensive push all day, looked like it might deny Michigan the victory. Larry Sanchez, fourth-string tailback who got his chance after sophomores Don Kasso and Earl Harbin BY JACK BERRY re Press Staff Writer ANN ARBOR Michigan reached into the past Saturday for some of its almost forgotten opportunism and rallied for two four-quarter touchdowns to pull out an 18-7 victory over Oregon State.

For three quarters the Wolverines completely dominated the game, yet looked as though they would lose their seventh straight, which would have been an all-time school record. An incredibly inept Oregon club, which now has lost all four starts, gave Michigan one break after another but the Wolverines couldn't capitalize. Then, with a 7-3 defeat staring them in the face, junior end John Halstead roused the Wolverines, falling on sophomore tailback Don Kasso'3 fumble at the Oregon State 33. Darrell Harper, demoted to the second string but promoted back during the game, and third-stringer Ken Tureaud took over. Harper cracked out nine yards on the first three plays.

Reid Bushong grabbed fullback Jim Stinnette's, Moop pass on the Wolverine 20 and returned it 13 yards. Harper and Fred Julian were the workhorses in the march.

Michigan's supremacy was evident in the statistics. Th Wolverines outgamed Oregon State, 176-57, in the first half and 332-152 over-all.

DESPITE the tremendous difference, the Wolverines managed only a 3-0 halftime lead on Halstead's 27-yard field goal with 2:05 left in the first quarter. Five of the many infractions were personal foul calls against Michigan State in the second quarter as the Spartans lost their poise along with everything else.

Out here for their first good Big Ten test of the season, the Spartans got a painfully low grade. Iowa took them apart, 38-7, before a stadium record crowd of 59,300 and a regional television audience. The Hawkeyes pounded MSU with the passing of Olen Treadway and some slashing running.

The Spartans looked as bad as they made Michigan appear only a week ago.
