Thousands of sets have already been mailed out all across the nation! Teachers use them to help students understand women's roles better. For instance, If students see a famous woman politician like Bella Abzug on a Supersister Trading Card, they won't think politics is only for men! The women on the Supersister cards are not real sisters.

But the two women who created the cards are! Lois Rich and Barbara Egerman Wanna trade a Mario Thomas for a Margaret Mead? Or how about a Shirley Chisholm for a Lily Tomlin? Sound crazy? Not when you're talking about Supersister Trading Cards! Supersister Trading Cards are a lot like baseball cards-except they have pictures of women instead of men! And they don't have any bubble gum in them. But the backs of the cards tell all about the woman pictured on front. The set of 72 cards features women who have-made high achievements in art, business, government, science, and sports. The set includes Sharl Lewis, a puppeteer, ventriloquist, and author; Jackie Cassello, a member of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation Elite iy ...4 Pm CP tL -XT VJ i it itwh-' ADVERTISEMENT cards.

They wanted to teach people about women and about careers for women. It all started when Lois' daughter asked her mother why baseball cards only had pictures of men on them. Lois and Barbara wondered why too! That's why they started their trading card business. It's so successful that Lois and Barbara are working on a new series of 72 trading cards. The first series has mostly famous women-athletes, politicians, and musicians.

But the new series will include women in formerly male jobs-like women truck drivers or astronauts. That way people will see women in all types of roles, famous or not! The two sisters are also thinking about putting historical women on the cards. You could be trading people like Marie Antoinette or Amelia Earhart! It may be a long time before Supersister Trading Cards are as widely traded as baseball cards. But if you start your collection now, you may be the first one on the block to own a genuine Mario Thomas! One of the supersisters Is Doriot Anthony Dwyer, a flutist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She said, "Can't you see the day when budding -feminists will be trading a Gloria Steinem for a Reggie Jackson?" Interested? Then write to Supersisters, 230 Park Join the Group Gripe!
