2-D Wednesday, Aug. 25. '76 DETROIT FREE PRESS 13-Year-Old Chases Speed Record In Rocket-Shaped 100-cc Motorcycle 0 I I 1 ft- master, Vince Lombardi, when he played on Green Bay's championship teams. When a Cleveland player asked the coach if the team's victory over Philadelphia Monday night might permit a relaxation of the diess code, Gregg replied: "You came with ties, didn't you? Then you go home with ties." The Browns wore ties on the trip home. Blue Removes 'Chunker Tag Oakland lefty Vida Blue has turned the corner.

At the ripe old age of 27, he's starting to think like a wily veteran instead of a flame-throwing kid. "I like to think I'm more of a pitcher now than a thrower, or a 'chunker' as people say," he said after blanking Baltimore Monday night. "I try to be more selective with my pitches." Blue says he still relies on his fastball "80 or 90 percent of the time" but he's able to make it move into or away from the hitters now. Blue is only 12-11, but has a 2.58 ERA and has completed eight of his last nine starts. AbduUJabbar's a Daddy The wife of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the National Basket-' ball Association's Most Valuable player last season, has given birth to a boy whom she described as looking "just like his father." Habiba Abdul-Jabbar gave birth to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and is 21 inches long, Monday morning in the Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, where the couple has a home.

Mrs. Abdul-Jabbar said her husband has seen the new baby boy but was not present at his birth, as he was when their daughter, Habiba, now 4, was born. She said the boy was named for his father, but "he's not a Junior. I guess we'll call him Abdul for a while, but we don't anticipate any confusion in the names." The elder Abdul-Jabbar, listed at 7-foot-2 and 232 pounds, plays for the Los Angeles Lakers and has been an All-Star in the seven years he has played in NBA after becoming an All-America at UCLA as Lew Alcindor. 1 -A iV Abdul Jabbar: His son looks just like daddy.

Ralph Wilson: He wants equal value for run-ning back O. J. Forrest 'Gregg: The Cleveland Browns' coach runs a tight ship. Thirteen-year-old Timmy Hudgens of Sunrise, doesn't have a driver's license, but he's ready to try for a motorcycle speed record, anyway. The ninth-grader and an adult neighbor, Frank Gelger, have been working for months on a lightweight, 100-cc motorcycle that they hope will break the record (115 m.p.h.) for two-wheelers of that engine capacity.

The cycle 12 feet long, 28 inches high and weighing 135 pounds fits only TimTny. "Nobody else could possibly drive it," said Geiger. "It fits him like a glove." Timmy and the rocket-shaped cycle are at Bonneville Salt Flats this week for the national speed trials. The 85-pound youngster has had one accident with the machine. "He laid it down once doing about 70 and came out without a scratch," Geiger said.

"It really didn't seem scary," said Timmy, who is protected inside the machine by helmet, roll bar and racing gloves. Timmy's mother said she's aware of the risks, but "as long "as I don't think too hard on it, it's all right. Even if there are no records broken, it's still a great thing for a 13-year-old." Giants Fine Pitcher $500 The San Francisco Giants announced Tuesday night that star righthander John Montefusco -has been fined $500 for his remarks directed toward manager Bill Rigney following Sunday's game with the Montreal Expos. Montefusco called Rigney "a loser" and said he "wanted out" of the Giants organization after he was removed by Rigney in the eighth inning of the Giants' 4-3 win over the Expos. Montefusco, who leads the Giants' pitchers with a 13-10 record, repeated his remarks on a radio talk show Sunday night and again in a television interview Monday night Mays' Ex-Wife Robbed Police in Hollywood, reported burglars broke into the home of Willie Mays' ex-wife, Marguerite, last weekend and stole some $250,000 worth of jewelry-and other valuables.

The woman and her real estate developer John W. Sewell, were away from home when thieves entered and took a 12'2 carat diamond ring valued at $140,000, a diamond medallion worth $40,000, a TV set, rugs, cameras and guns. Mrs. Sewell and Mays were divorced In 1962. Lauda Says Hell Race Again Austrian race driver Nikl Lauda said he'll return to racing in the Grand Prix of Canada in October after recovering from the near-fatal burns he suffered in a crash at Nurburgring, West Germany, early this month.

He's confined to his home for 10 days to limit the danger of infection. "I have had skin put on my forehead and around my eyes," said the 27-year-old. "When you get new skin on your face, it's completely white. Then, when the ft If blood goes through, it's bright red. I'm about halfway through the recovery process parts of my face have normal color and parts are blood-red." He said he won't drive again at Nurburgring until it is made safer.

"Only God saves you if you make a mistake there." Rams Offers Not Enough The Buffalo Courier Express newspaper reported that Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr. turned down several Los Angeles Rams offers for running back O.J. Simpson two weeks ago. The paper said the Rams first offered running back Lawrence McCutcheon, linebacker Jack Reynolds and defensive tackle Mike Fanning. Wilson said no, according to the paper.

Then, the report continued, the Rams sweetened the pot by offering defensive tackle Cody Jones instead of Fanning. Another refusal. Then the Rams tossed in linebacker Jim Youngblood instead of Reynolds and got a third rejection, the paper said. The Rams also offered deals including receiver Jack Snow and safety Steve Preece and were still spurned, the report claimed. Wilson has said he wants equal value for O.J.
