Christine Campos Martinez Christine Campos Martinez, 83, a lifelong resident of Chino, died March 9, 2007, at her home. Daughter of early Chinoans Angel and Pauline Barragan Campos, Mrs. Martinez was born June 17, 1923, and was the fifth of their 11 children. She attended Chino schools, graduating from Chino High in 1941. She married her childhood sweetheart, Leonardo Lupe Martinez, on Christmas 1941, and they had six children.

In addition to raising her family, she worked in several places in and around Chino, including a chicken ranch, a garment factory, a restaurant, and school cafeterias. In 1979 she earned a degree and a teaching credential from the University of La Verne. She began a 16-year career as a teacher, first in La Puente and later in Chino. She retired in 1995 from Doris Dickson Elementary, where, that same year, she was honored as teacher of the year. During her retirement, she belonged to the Montclair Walkers.

She is survived by children Susan Avalos of Corona, Steven Martinez of Chino, Rod Martinez of Chino, Elissa San Juan of Pasadena, and Regina Martinez of Long Beach; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Grace Padilla of Chino, Raymond Campos of Tulare, Jean Chacon of Victorville, and Lawrence Campos of Chino. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonardo Lupe Martinez; her son Leonard J. Martinez; her great-grandson Brendan L. Avalos; and several siblings. A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, March 16, at St.

Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Chino, and was followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pomona. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1240 Palmyrita Suite Riverside, CA 92507, or at www.cancer.org John Donovan Roney John Donovan Roney, a longtime resident of Chino Hills and a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, died March 2, 2007, at Kindred Hospital. Born July 31, 1924, in Grand Island, Mr. Roney was a retired real estate broker.

He is survived by his 12 nieces and nephews, and by his good friend Kathy Trout. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty. Mr. Roney was a member of Knights of Columbus, and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific in the U.S. Navy Construction Battalions, or fighting Sea- Bees.

Mr. Roney will be buried with military honors at 11:15 a.m. March 29 at Staging Area 2 of the Riverside National Cemetery. Donn S. DeVore Donn S.

DeVore, 57, a former Chino resident and city employee, died March 6, 2007, from a heart attack while doing what he loved most: fishing. Born March 9, 1949, in Burbank, Mr. DeVore grew up in San Diego. He married his wife, Cindy, in 1968. They became parents that year with the birth of their only child, Mark.

They lived in Panorama City and Pomona before settling in Chino, where Mr. DeVore worked for the city of Chino until his retirement in 2003. Mr. and Mrs. DeVore retired to Sequim, to be near their son in Seattle and close to the water so Mr.

DeVore could spend his retirement fishing, camping and traveling. Mr. DeVore was a lifelong fisherman with many trophies and fish stories. He enjoyed handcrafting fishing poles and taking exotic fishing trips, including one last year to the Amazon rainforest. He also enjoyed playing cards, and he took in many stray dogs over the years.

Two weeks before his death, Mr. and Mrs. DeVore traveled to California to visit friends and join the DeVore family to scatter the ashes of his mother in Mission Bay. Mr. DeVore is survived by Cindy, his wife of 38 years; their son, Mark of Seattle; sister Linda of California; brother Ken of Utah; and sister Nancy of Wyoming.

A memorial service and celebration of Mr. life will be held in San Diego in June, when his ashes will be scattered in Mission Bay. Mary Elizabeth Winslow Mary Elizabeth Winslow, 88, of Chino died March 10, 2007. She was born July 13, 1918, to Emily and Percy V. Broughton in La Harpe, Kan.

The family moved to the state of Washington when she was 6. She graduated from high school in Vancouver, from Multnomah Bible College in Portland, and from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She taught school in Nogales, and later at Los Serranos Elementary School, Chino Hills. She retired from teaching while at Los Serranos. She is survived by five children, Ruth Tandy of Wolf City, Texas, Esther Collingridge of Smithtown, N.Y., Judy Archer of Issaquah, Bob Winslow of Camp Verde, and Wayne Winslow of Modesto; nine grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and sisters Grace Jansen of Vancouver, Ruby McIrvin of Laurier, and Vivian Officer of Randall, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren R. Winslow, and her infant daughter Elizabeth Winslow. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today (March 17) at Pomona Valley Memorial Park. Funeraria del Angel Griffith Mortuary, Chino, is in charge of arrangements.

Michelin was described as playful, not good with cats but enjoying small dogs, and needing a home with a busy family. Michelin raced up until six months ago. The adoption fee is $225. The next court date for the conflict of interest case involving school board member Bobby Grizzle has been set for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, in Superior Court in San Bernardino. Deputy District Attorney John Goritz said a preliminary hearing might be set at that time. Mr. Grizzle was charged last November with four felonies stemming from allegations that he benefited financially from a contract between the school district and his employer, the office supply company Boise One of the charges is that Mr.

Grizzle did not accurately report his income on required political forms. Mr. Grizzle pleaded not guilty on all counts Jan. 31. The school board voted Feb.

1 to spend $50,000 for an attorney to defend the trustee. Mr. Grizzle said he reported the potential conflict of interest regarding his employment to the school district when he took his seat on the board in late 1999. He also said he followed the advice of the school legal counsel. court date March 28.
