Marina Plan For Bear Lake Nears The State Park and Recreation Commission is putting finishing touches on a proposal to revise and enlarge Bear Lake boat marina, PLANS INCLUDE mooring space for more than 100 small pleasure craft, according to Aldin O. Hayward, commission director.

The commission already has approved expenditure of more than $60,000 to finance the project, the third of its kind to be built by the state. The others are at Palisades Reser. voir near Manti and on the Green River. THE PROPOSED enlargement of the Bear Lake facilities, on the west Snake in Rich County, will utilize the existing boat ramp area as a parking site for those taking their crafts into the water. As presently planned, dredge lines and bulldozers will be used to build a shaped dike around the marina area in which the boats can be moored free of the dangers of rough lake waters and storms.

MR. HAYWARD SAID the plans for the Bear Lake marina will be advertised for bids some time next week. Preliminary engineering work has been done by Neff Engineering Salt Lake City. The state official explained that use of boat ramp facilities established by the state as well as those set up by the federal government at Rockport Lake, Summit County, suffered during last year's boating season because of the unusual dry cycle of the weather. THIS TOOK THE water level down so far that in some instances the boat ramps were too high to launch a craft. Normally, Mr.

Hayward said, the ramps would have been adequate to accommodate almost any small pleasure craft likely to be used there. Hugo J.
