AT AY, 3 2 0 2 3 A A B15C A I I LAFLEUR, Henri Philip Aug 27, 1935 May 24, 2023 After many months of failing health, Henri left us peacefully in hospital on May 24, 2023. He leaves behind Anne, his wife and companion of nearly 58 years and his beloved children, Sophie (Craig Bobbie) and Marc (Lindsay Page) and treasured grandchildren Aude and Sacha Page Lafleur and Mia Bobbie, as well as his twin brother and soul mate Anthony, his cherished nephew and niece Sean and Heather Lafleur and their children, and Sebastien, Gretchen and Cecily. Henri's family was of the utmost importance to him and he counted himself so fortunate to be surrounded by these special people. Henri Philip was born to parents Joy and Laffie, from whom he inherited a panache and zest for life, as well as an enduring sense of style alongside a deeply analytical mind that did not shy away from challenging conversations which he relished! His happy and enriching years at Trinity College School, McGill University and the Royal Canadian Navy reserves, prepared Henri for his career as a corporate lawyer which took him across Canada, first from Montreal to Ottawa for a short spell, then to Vancouver and finally Toronto where he retired and became involved in volunteer activities. He loved downhill skiing and racquet sports, but he always dreamed of sailing the ocean blue.

Over the years, various cats knew they would always find a willing lap to curl up in and he loved to spoil them with ice cream and other treats. His skill in making omelettes was unparalleled and his enduring fondness for French onion soup made for a predictable, if not always agreed- upon, dinner suggestion over the decades. After moving back to Montreal in 2008, he enjoyed much happiness and companionship among old and lasting friends and family. He loved being close to water where he could watch the activity on the canal, marvelling at both birds and boats alike. He will be sorely missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. FINLAYSON, Margaret Irene (nee McAllister) It is with heavy hearts that we announce Margaret passing on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the age of 76 years. The cancer that took her from us too soon was diagnosed less than three months before her passing, but she endured her illness with courage and positivity. Margaret will be dearly missed by children Duncan (Tina) and Tracy (Darren), and grandchildren James and Ryan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years Allan, parents James and Florence McAllister, and sister Joan.

Margaret was the centre of her family, often hosting holiday dinners at her home in Rockport. She was quiet and reserved in larger groups, but at home with family and friends, her wit and humour shone through a perfect match for Allan! Always quietly smiling, her positive attitude guided the family through hard times and taught us how to enjoy natural beauty. Having grown up on a farm in Havelock, Margaret was hardworking, and loved living in the country and being outdoors. An avid gardener and lover of trees, she spent many happy hours working outdoors to maintain their 50-acre property near Rockport. The dream home she and Allan had built and shared together was her pride and joy.

It was the culmination of years of hard work: from running a tree farm in Iroquois while raising two children, to running a hardware store in Cardinal, to establishing Finlayson Construction, always with her soulmate and life partner Allan by her side. Her love of books nourished her thoughtful insights, and she instilled this passion in her children. She loved art in all its forms, and her own creative side was often visible especially during the holidays, when she created the best clues for her Christmas gifts! Her beautiful gentle spirit, kindness, and warm smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at Ormstown Union Cemetery on Sunday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
