State police at Wyoming barracks! questioned a man 1 booked as William Hankey, 32, Kingston, and sought a companion today in connection with a gasoline station hold12p. The man held was captured last night in Luzerne, where police fired at a second man who fled from an automobile after a chase in Main street. Assistant Chief of Police Alvin Grumblis and Sergeant John Luksic of Luzerne said they believed the fugitive had been wounded.

Troopers reported they found clothing in the car similar to that worn by men who robbed Vivian Walters, 24, of $55 at a Luzerne gasoline station Sunday. A toy gun also was found in the car, they Ellis Meeker, Alderson, owner of the car, said it had been stolen at Harvey's Lake June 26. Back From Vacation. Misses Genevieve D. Four Hazleton youths were honored at the final regimental parade bold at Camp Meade by the CMTC contingent there. After strenuous competition for various scholarships offered to basics only, Nicholas Selfing, Christian Skoff, Elias Selfing, and Cornelius Coll were awarded scholarships. Ni. holas Selfing received the scholal ship to Geneva. College, with Christian Skoff as alternate.

Elias Selfing was awarded the scholarship to Carnegie Tech and Cornelius Coll was chosen alternate for StayerBryant and Stratton College. In addition to winning a scholarship, Nicholas Selfing was awarded 2 medal for being the best basic in Company A. This award was made to the first year man who" was the most outstanding in military tactics during the month's training period. Selfing was also commissioned a corporal. an honor primarily bestowed on second year men, and his excellent work was responsible for his squad receiving commendation as the best in the company.

Elias Selfing received the most valuable scholarship offered. 'The Third Corps Area made the selection of all trainees offered scholarships on the basis of military ethiciency, citizenship, and character. GIRL RESERVE CAMP PICNIC WEDNESDAY Girl who attended the Girl Reserve Day Camp of the Y. W. C.

A. will hold a picnic at Mt. Laurel tomorrow afternoon, concluding with a camp fire in the evening at which prizes will be awarded for the swimming contest. Y. W.

P. Lorillard Inc. Stimulating NEVER IRRITATING LANDLORDS WILL MEET THURSDAY Officers State Only Those Who Own Property Will Be Admitted to Session. A call was issued today by President Pasco Schiavo of the newly organized Landlords' Association for all property owners to meet at city hall on Thursday night at 7 o'clock. This is a meeting for landlords and for the furtherance of their interests.

Hence officials of the organization want the public to stand quite plainly that only property owners will be admitted and that committees or officers of any other organizations will not be welcome. If they call, they will be asked to leave. The landlords of Hazieton have been up against conditions the past several years due to the depression that has developed a status where rents are not paid and consequent distress is suffered by the property owner who in turn often cannot pay the taxes on the holdings he possess- es. The association has been formed with a view to outlining policies that will correct conditions and the officers feel that co-operation by all property holders will result in a movement that will enable collection of rents to be again restored to full function and which will relieve the landlords of the city of the distress under which they suffer. FILE SUITS AGAINST LOCAL BUS COMPANY Carl De Cavage, aged 27 years of Hazleton and Wilson Co.

of Hazleton filed damage suits against the Hazleton Auto Bus Co. for $169.25 and $5,000 damages respectively. De Cavage was the driver of a Wilson truck that figured in a collision with a bus on East Chestnut street on January 30, 1931. Shot By "Empty" Pistol. SHAMOKIN, July 30.

(AP) Joseph Carsto, 30, of Shamokin, shot himself in the left leg with a pistol he thought wasn't loaded. Father Thomas J. Conlin. Word was received here of the Cath of Rev. Father Thomas J. Conlin, rector of St.

Brendan's church, at Braddock, Pa. Father Conlin, was born in Lattimer, and spent his early boyhood there. He attended St. Bonaventure's College, and Seminary. Father Conlin was ordained at Pittsburgh, and spent the past forty years in the Pittsburgh diocese.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ella Charles, of Lattimer. The Charles and Conlin families have left to attend the funeral, which will be held on Thursday morning, at Braddock, and at which Rev. Father J. W.

Gilpatrick, of St. Raphael's will be one of the priests attending the mass. Mrs. Emma F. Acker.

Mrs. Emma F. Acker, aged 84 years, of rear 128 Webster avenue, West Hazleton, died at 5:30 o'clock last evening, as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage, suffered a year ago. She was a member of Christ's Memorial Reformed church, West Hazleton, and was preceded in death 15 years ago by her husband, Ephriam Acker. The following children survive: Harry, of West Hazleton; William, of Connelsville; Mrs.

Thomas Astleford, of this city; Mrs. Adam Ford, Jacob, Mrs. Andrew Zakutney, of West Hazleton, and Mrs. George Gleim, of this city. The body will be removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs.

Andrew Zakutney, rear 240 West Green street, from where the funeral services will be conducted at a time not yet decided upon. (AP) Alva Bradley, president of the Cleveland Indians baseball club, said today that Walter Johnson's future as manager of the fifth place tribe will be determined at a week end conference at Detroit. Bradley said he advised Johnson last night that would meet him in Detroit to discuss the manager's future with the club "and the welfare of the Indians in general." The club president declined to discuss possible successors in the event that Johnson should relinquish post. "This doesn't mean it has definitely been decided to come to the ing of the ways with Walter," ley said. Over Center Line Driving Ban. GETTYSBURG, July 30. (AP) Sergeant T. N. Boate, of the highway patrol, ordered arrest on sight of motorists caught driving over the center line of highways.

The prevalence of robberies of homes in Hazleton as owners sit on their front porches has caused such a scare in town that few sit on their porches evenings any more.
