Lumber Company Granted Permit To Build Warehouse A permit for construction of a $150,000 warehouse, with sales area, located on the north side of White-ford road, west of Eden ruad, was granted yesterday to 84 Lumber company by the Springettsbury Township Zoning office. Home office of the lumber company is Limestone, Clarion county. The building is to be constructed on a 10-acre plot with entrance in tfhe middle of the 504-foot frontage on Eden road. At the rear end to the north of the plot are tracks of Penn Central railroad. Hie 122-by-200 foot one-story structure is to be 25 feet high and will house a sales area in its northeast comer.

The contractor is Piney Meadows Development company, Limestone. Allegheny County Elects Democrats Pittsburgh, LB Election day left Allegheny county administrative, law and judicial offices nearly all held by Democrats. Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, head forensic pathologist in the county, running as a Democrat, beat his boss Dr.

Ralph J. Stalter, the Republican incumbent, by 103,467 votes in unofficial returns. The victor in the sheriff's race, Eugene L. Coon, took a 134,190 vote majority from his Republican opponent Vincent C. Murovich Jr.

But the surprise in county voting was the election of Patrick R. Tamilia and Henry R. Smith Jr. over Republican Judges David B. Fawcett nd Richard T.

Wentely in the Allegheny County Common Pleas court race. Fawcett and Wentley were appointed to the court last year by Gov. Raymond P. Shafer. Harrisburg Upset Laid To GOP Machine's Failure Harrisburg OTV The decline of a once powerful Republican machine and the law and order issue apparently gave Pennsylvania's capital city its first Democratic mayor since .1911.

The city's council however is Republican-controlled. Political observers gave these reasons yesterday when asked how Democrat Harold A. Swenson overcame a 4-1 registration deficit to defeat incumbent Republican Albert H. Straufo. The unofficial tally from Tuesday's election gave Swenson a margin of either 33 or 68 votes, with Republicans claiming the lower figure and Democrats the higher one.

The official count won't begin until Nov. 14, and until then, the ballots will stay in the vault of a local bank. SHOOLS (Continued from Page 3) school, open house 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and Veterans Day program 1:15 p.m. Wednesday only Devers Elementary school, open house, 8:30 a.m.
