PAGE EIGHT NEW OXFORD ITEM, NEW OXFORD, JULY 3, 195S Crippled Girl Gets 8 Weeks At Easter Seal An 11-year-old Adams County girl with an artificial leg Has begun eight weeks or fun and training at Camp Easter Seal in the Laurel Hill State Park, near Somerset, with her expenses to be paid by the Adams County Crippled Children's Society out of funds raised through the annual Easter seal eale this spring. In another month, she will br joined by a nine-year-old crippled Littlestown boy. Just out of Elizabethtown Hospital, who will spend the last four weeks of the summer camping period at Camp Easter Seal. The girl who was taken to Camp Easter Seal Wednesday by her parents is Margaret Miller, 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Francis Miller of near Conewago Chapel, fifie is a sixth grade pupil at Conewago school. "Does Very Well" Margaret has an artificial since an amputation during early childhood. She uses an artificial limb and "does very well with it." state nurses say. In addition to eight weeks ol camping fun among other handicapped children, she expects to learn new skills with her artificial leg. In four weeks, Terry Boyd, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Raymond Boyd, Littlestown R. 2, will go to Camp Easter Seal as the guest of the county Crippled Children's Society. He has a pathological dislocation of the right hip and has spent much of his young life in braces. He recently returned home from a loni? hospitalization at Elizabeth town where he submitted to surgery.

Hospital doctors have given him permission to take part in all camp activities in which he has an interest. Camp Easter Seal Is one of four summer camps operated by, the state Society for Crippled Children and Adults. Nearly all of the youngsters' time at the camp will be taken up with hiking, playing ball, swimming, sleeping outdoors and other camping activities. Only the necessary minimum of therapy and other treatment will be given so as to keep life at the camp as normal as possible. Handicapped youngsters from southeastern Pennsylvania areas go to Camp Daddy Allen in the Poconos.

The society operates two other camps for the severly handicapped, Camp Harmony Hall, near Highspire, and Camp Lend-A-Hand, near Conneaut Lake. YWCA of the U.SA. was founded in 1888. and Mrs. William H. Forbes, Seven Valleys R. 1. Orders $14,700 Damages Paid The Adams County court Saturday handed down an order directing the payment and distribution of the $14,700 awarded James E.

and Leila Jane Behney, York Springs R. for damages to their property caused by the relocation of the Gettysburg Harnsburg Rd. at York Springs. The order was on petition following the award of the board of view and the rejection of a state appeal from the award. Construction of the York Springs bypass involved a bridge over the Carlisle-Hanover Rd.

The Behney home was tt the south side of the bridge and had to be moved. Behney moved the home to another portion of his acreage. The order signed by the court directs that a mortgage holder, Chester B. Worley, be paid $2,600 plus interest at 4 per cent from March 31, 1951, to cover the mortgage and that the remainder of the $14,700 to be paid as damages by the state be given to Mr. and Mrs.

Behney. Another order handed down by the court Saturday named Atty. Donald M. Swope as master in the divorce action brought by Donald H. Becker, Gettysburg, against Juanita Fern (Walker) Becker.

DIES SUDDENLY IN Y. S. CONVALESCENT HOME Harry Orner, 78, a former Me- chamcsburg barber, died suddenly this morning at 8:15 o'clock at the Hursh Convalescent Home, York Springs, where he had been a patient since June 20. Prior to that he had been a patient, suffering from a stroke in the Mechanicsburg Hospital. The death was caused.

Dr. C. G. Crist, Adams County coroner said, by a coronary thrombosis. Among survivors is his wife, Grace, who became a guest at the Hursh Home at the time her husband entered there.

Dr. C. G. Crist, Adams County coroner, who investigated, said death was due to coronary thrombosis. The deceased, who retired from the Pennsylvania State Highway Department about a month ago, had been In his usual health.
