ThEN a benefit for whom? CONCERT IN Slayer of 2 Convicted In Florida Knlnht News Wlr FORT PIERCE, Fla. Gerard John Schaefer's double-murder conviction here won't halt intensive investigations of other missing girls linked with Schaefer through articles found in his mother's home. "I don't anticipate filing any new charges in the immediate future, but we will be pursuing the investigation, I can assure you that," State Attorney Robert Stone said Friday.

Schaefer was in the St. Lucie County jail with "absolutely no change" in the quiet and composed demeanor he has displayed over the past weeks, according to jail personnel. Schaefer, a former Martin County (Fla.) sheriff's deputy, was convicted late Thursday. STONE AND Broward County State Attorney Philip Shailer wove a net of circumstantial evidence and psychological background that convinced a six-member jury that Schaefer had killed two girls, Georgia Jessup, 16, and Susan Place, 17, sometime late last year. Miss Jessup had recently moved to the Ft.

Lauderdale area from Detroit with her Among the witnesses at the trial was Nancy Ellen Trotter, 19, of Farmington, Mich. She said she and Paula Sue Wells of Texas had been tied to a tree by Schaefer, who put nooses around their necks and left them handcuffed in July, 1972. Schaefer had earlier pleaded guilty of aggravated assault in the Trotter case, and was sentenced to six months in jail. After Thursday's verdict, when Schaefer was led back through the courthouse corridor to the jail, he repeated: "I am innocent." STONE SAID he would recommend a life sentence for each murder, "to be served consecutively, not concurrently." "Schaefer should be away permanently for the sake of society," Stone said. When we separated, I went into a laundromat to play with the washing machines. I asked the man in charge ihow much it would cost. He said $5.46. I'm 20 and married.

USUALLY DRIPDRY Dear Drlpdry: Putting things in a washing machine usually getting them clean. Maybe you want to "come clean" on something, but don't know how to go about it with your husband? Your in-laws? The number 546 would interest any numerologist, which I'm not. But ask yourself what it might be. A birth date? An address? A telephone number? Try to come "clean anyway as Easy 1-2-3, KATY.
