The Catholic Theater group is putting on "Berkeley Square" as the third anniversary production Opening night is Thursday and the play will be repeated Friday and Saturdaj' in the Art Institute auditorium. This is Kathleen's first job as production manager of anything, although she's acted and done other jobs for the Catholic Theater and it's no joke to see that somehow by some magic actors, directors, scene shifters, property men, costumers. electricians all come together at the final moment to make a thing of perfection on the stage Perfection is the aim, nothing less, of the Catholic Theater. Such is the domain of Ann Ryan, wardrobe mistress for the "Life with Father" cast at the Cass this week.

From here tall, gray-haired Miss Ryan mothers the cast, sews buttons on their clothes and keeps snowy collars and cuffs on their costumes. For three years she has traveled the route from New York to San Francisco keeping a succession of Mrs. Days in clean ruffles and, occasionally, reseating the blue linen trousers of the younger Days. Miss Ryan, who came into show business by way of Scotland, her birthplace, Minnesota and New York was preceded in the work by four brothers. Family Tradition THE OLDEST built "The Miracle" on Sixty-third St.

in New York. Another an electrician worked on "Show Boat" and "Rio Rita." Her own debut as wardrobe mistress was in Oscar Hammer-stein's "Red Rose" a sumptuous musicale requiring dozens of costumes. Though she has worked in everything from Fisher's French Casino to George White's Scandals, Miss Ryan rates "Life with Father" as her favorite play. "It's smaller," she admits, "but there's plenty to do and this is more like a i'amily." Her life is just one crisis after another. There's Clarence, the oldest Day son.

The Army steps in and Clarence steps out and Miss Ryan finds another set of clothes to fit the new actor. She has shoes funny old button styles to shine, black rot ton stockings to find and embroidery to mend. Three times a week she washes tablecloths and napkins for the 2-t breakfasts the cast eats on the stage each and every week. Prefers the Sea THE SEA, not the stage, however, is Miss Ryan's real passion in life. "I've never enjoyed any job as much as I did my year as stewardess on the steamship line from United States to England.

France and Hamburg." That was in 1938 when the refugees from Germany were coming to this country. "We brought boatloads of them back to the United States from Hamburg," Miss Ryan said. Summers when the show closes and Miss Ryan hopes it won't this year she stays with her sister on Long Island or relaxes at a lake in New Jersey. "What do I do besides relax? Well," she hesitated, "I sew for my sister. She never gets around to it.

This summer I'll probably work on a bolt of cretonne she's had for a year." Add one slice of bread which has been soaked in water and squeezed free of the water again. Form into balls. Cut the fish skin in small pieces and wrap around balls. Place bones and head of the fish with two or three onions in the bottom of a kettle. Put fish balls on top and cover with water to which has been added one tablespoon of catsup.

Boil rapidly for a short time, then turn down heat and let simmer for two hours or until nearly all the water has evaporated. These fish balls may also be baked in a buttered pan. It takes about an hour. Makes 16 fish balls or eight servings. Mrs.
