Nov. 16. 1950 ftfl Picks Up $16,850 for Owner John Dudeck, a 16 -year -old junior, from Western High School, joined Detroit's parade of National Interscholastic rec? ord-breakers. The young West Side swimmer shattered the National schoolboy mark for the 100-yard breaststroke as Western wound up in a rare dual meet tie with Northwestern, 454 to 45. Dudeck covered the course in 1:02.7, trimming a 10th of a second off the record set by Bill Smith, of Honolulu and Ohio record-holder, is credited with the 150-medley and 220-yard free-style marks.

He will go after another pair Thursday in the Jewish Community Center pool. Dudeck became the third Detroit schoolboy in three years to earn a spot on the National honor roll.
