Retired since 1926, Professor Trueblood remained known for a series of educational innovations BESIDES TEACHING his pio neering course in public speaking ui 1887, he organized the first college department of speech. He was an original teacher of Jthe modern informal style of public speaking as opposed to the old arm- waving school. He was the University of i i an's first golf coach and mentored the team from 1901 until 1936, when he M- Trueblood was 80 years old.
