Senia nek's "lioman Tniperla liallet" is a bit of deliciouslv funny clowning. The show ends with a spectncular pres entation of a chariot race and the burning of Rome. Arthur Cutow was at the orphan. and a news reel nnd short features completed the program. Fox Wnnhlngtfcn "Mother Mnrhree.

It's a benutiful bit of work that Relic Bennett do be doing in "Mother Mfichree," at the Fox ashing ton. After you see it you will wipe the tears from your eyt-s and whisper the words of the sont? bless vou nnd keen you. Mother And you don't after having to be Irish to do it. neither. "Mother Machree." as put on the I screen by John Ford, of Fox Films, is as sweet and tender and as fun of sentiment ns the song of the ame name which John MoCormaek has mud i even more famous than the Irish sinner for whom it was written and by whom it was first sung, the late Chaunc.ey Olcott.

Miss Bennett, by her delicate, sympathe tic treatment of the role of Klien Mcliugh. called fertionately by her little son "Mother Machree." has put a mark on the picture that, happily, should place It in as great favor with the public ns the verses of llida Johnson Young which Olcott and Krnest Ball set to music. With Mls Bennett presenting such a thoughtful, restrained and grac ious characterization of Kilen, it Is fortunate that she has been sur rounded by so fine and capable a cast. Victor McUagb'ti gives a delicious performance of Terence, and the late Ted McNamara the two of them in "What Price Glory." you will recall provides further delect able humor as the one-timo "harpist of Wexford" become a New York alderman and the "giant's" best friend. That charming and gifted boy, Bhilippe I)eLacy, is Brinn as a small lad, and Neil Hamilton Is something to enthuse over as the adult Brian.

Kulalie Jensen as Miss Van Stnddlfoid; Constance Howard as J-idith; JKthel Clayton, Bat Somer set and many others are excellently cast. '1 ne picture has been care fully produced nnd Its backgrounds, whether in Ireland or New iork, are in keeping wtth the story and appropriate. taste marks the entire production. A musical prologue and an accompaniment of Irish airs is played by Koxy's orchestra on the Movietone. That marvelous invention also offers Meller, the Spanish ruse use, in a manner much more sat isfactory nan when this interna tional star visited a local legitimate staU! nt an exorbitant price for seats.

Iler two numbers show this sifted artiste at her best. The same may be said of the appearance of Mefitriee that more than fun ny woman so recently In Detroit in Person, she does two of her 'best i songs. There are many other inter- eating numbers on the Movietone. npltol "Tl.o I.Htle Shepherd of Kingdom 4 Hichard Parthclmcss as a bare- loot boy and as a stalwart young i ivn war soiuier is what Pick many admirers will find on the screen at the Capitol this week where John Fox, novel "The TJitle Shepherd of Kingdom Come" has been picturUed. The role is so utterly different to those he played in "Tim Patent Leather Kid" "The Noose," his most recent pictures, that com pari sun would scarcely he fair. Chad is more like Pick's work in "Tol'able Pavid," the. picture which brought him much fame and star honors in the screen1 world. The earlier sequences show I Chnd and his dog In the meanest of; surroundings and without any itation other than that afforded by1 charitable mountain folk, and it is in this parr of the tory that Bar-thelmess will be best liked.
