A man and woman cannot be secretly divorced. As you grow a little older and a little wiser you will see what a wise provision that Is. Marriage, my dear, isn't something to be kicked off like an old shoe. I am sorry I cannot be more helpful. By RUTH ALDEN Dear Ruth: A boy and I have gone together three years and he wishes to marry me, but this is what stands in his way: Five years ago he and a girl were going together and she became a mother end he did not marry her at the time, but a settlement was made. This has always been on his mind and he wishes to do it and I have encouraged it, as I am sure he would do as I wanted him to. He is going to marry the girl and Rive the child a name. That is his only reason, and the girl says that is all she wants, just a name for her daughter, which I think is his duty. He says that is the only way out so that we ourselves can be happy, as otherwise he would always have that on his mind and I know he worries about it now.

They want to marry secretly and be divorced secretly right away for the child's sake. That Is what I want to know, too. Will It be possible for them to get married secretly and get divorced right away, and how soon after marriage can one start a divorce suit? He says we will go on just as we have, as they will never live together; just go through the marriage. I am wondering if she could sue me after they are married and he and I went together as we have NV P. UONVj Utvve.

Those of you who are looking for something out of the ordinary might try making a tomato soup cake. Many will probably turn up their noses at the idea of making cake with tomato soup. Of course, the combination does not sound particularly Intriguing, but wait until you taste the cake and you'll get the surprise of your life. The icing that goes with the cake is composed of another curious mixture, the chief ingredients for which are powdered sugar and cream cheese.

This icing rivals the best butter cream frosting any cook could turn out. It's the type of cake that will appeal to the entire family, from the youngest up to the oldest, and particularly to the male members of the household. Ten chances to one they will all come back for a second and even a third piece after the first helping. Anyway this is true if the personality is a knitted one. Back in the days when a "sweater" meant a shaker-knit, and a shaker-knit meant that pneumonia protector which the football players and basketball stars envel oped themselves in one did not wear one knitted woolens to tea. Came the day, however, of mesh knits, and lacev treatments by the knitting needles, and behold, sweat ers barged right into the drawing room of society. These society types look more like blouses than other wise, and a good wardrobe must contain five or six varied types of sweaters to give proper liability coverage for your looks on all occasions. The same sweater doesn't appear on horseback that pours cocktails, yet a sweater can and should go both places these days.

Indeed, Yes THIS business of 'cooking would get to be an old, old story even to the best of cooks unless a bit of variety was injected into it. Like any other job, the dally business of cooking breakfasts, luncheons and dinners would soon become drudgery if it bad to be done the same way day after day.

Fortunately it doesn't or many wives would strike, leaving their families to cook for themeslves or to eat in restaurants. Housewives of this modern age Child Care Milk By MYRTLE MEYER ELDRED A It ILK is one of the essential I'J. foods for growing children. It contains all the elements for sustaining human life, protein, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and water. Manies tnnve on oreast milk and the young of other animals on the milk suited to them.

But all young animals arrive at an age when milk alone Is not sufficient for their whole diet. It becomes one of the growth foods, not the only one. The child who gets too much mlik when ha should be getting solid foods is very apt to become undernourished. If he satisfies his appetite with quantities of milk, his desire for other foods is blunted and his nutrition suffers. What May Happen We find that the child who still takes a bottle after the first year tends to increase his consumption of milk and refuse solid foods.

The child who is allowed to drink as much milk as he wants without limit becomes a progressively more serious feeding problem. Both too little milk and too much milk foster nutritional problems. Mrs. M. H.

B. writes that she has so many questions to ask that she doesn't know where to begin. She feels that I deserve credit for the fact that her nine-months-old baby, who weighs 22 pounds and has four teeth, has never been sick a day of his life. She says she has used i several of my feeding leaflets. Naturally I feel a gratified glow at having had any part in rearing such a blue ribbon baby.

Here is one of her questions: "I am giving him whole milk, Mrs. Eldred, and I give it just as it comes from the bottle, and warm it and feed it by cup. It seems to agree with him. I took him off his formula gradually. Now he gets about one quart and one pint of Milk Leaflet Freo You may have my leaflets, "Evaporated Milk Formula" and "Feeding from 2 to 12 Months." I shall be glad to send them to you or any other reader, if you will enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your request to The Detroit Free Press.

milk dally. Is this too much, or isn't It enough? He drinks very well from a cup, but not all of this. I cook his cereal in milk and when I think he isn't going to take all of it, I make a cream soup for him. "I give him cereal for breakfast and supper, orange Juice, two vegetables, and dally. He gains now from one to one and one-half pounds a month.

He certainly Is a healthy baby." An Oversight I am more than pleased that the leaflets on feeding have been so beneficial to baby. But there Is one pertinent sentence in the feeding leaflet which you have overlooked. "One quart of milk dally is the maximum for any child any age." When a child reaches 16 pounds in weight he can have as much as one quart of milk a day. After that the water and sugar decrease until he geta four eight-ounce bottles, or four cupfuls dally of whole milk, but the amount of milk does not increase. The additional foods do.

It Is upon them that baby must depend for his increasing nourishment. Four cupfuls of milk daily are all your baby needs. Everything else is fine. And while we are on the subject of the leaflets, I often notice that mothers ask me questions about things which are printed ir the leaflets they have. Read the leaflets over carefully several times.

I try to pack them so full of information that one reading is hardly sufficient to make all the points stick. Been doing. How can they go about getting a divorce quickly and secretly and where and how? Please give me advice as to your Idea of this affair and If you think I am doing right in letting him do it for our happiness and the girl's and the child's future. I will sign 27 AND 28. My dear Girl: I wonder if you have really thought this thing through? Do you realize that a great wrong has been done and is being done to a little child? In your plans for your own happiness I think you have overlooked the fact that the child and her welfare must come first.

The man you want to marry cannot lose that responsibility by going into a court house and asking for a divorce; the State will not permit it I sympathize with the mother who asks only a name for her baby. Perhaps that is all she feels she can get now. But she will not always feel that way. I will try to use the last of the letters in the Sunday issue of The Detroit Free Press, Only a coward, yes a cheap coward, will raise his hand to beat a poor defenseless woman. much younger. I really think 10 years would not make a bit of difference. Please advise me the best you can as I trust and hope in you. KAY-JAY. This is not an easy problem to answer.

There are undoubtedly many happily married couples in which the wife is considerably older than the husband. Every one of them would unquestionably rise up and resent it if I tell you that you are running a heavy chance of failure. And yet that is what I shall have to say. I know of a number of cases in which schoolboys married teachers who were their seniors by from eight to ten years, and every one of those marriages has brought un-happlness. But now let me add the important part of the message which I have for you.

It is, that In every case the fault was entirely with the man. Please do not think I am so prejudiced that I do not know that a wife can wreck a marriage just as easily as a husband. I am only talking about actual cases which have rome under my observation and which are parallel to your own. The first trouble in these instances was that the boy was not in love at all. He was infatuated with the mature charms, the personality and the intelligence of the woman, but he was not truly in love.

As time passed these young men failed to catch up with their wives. The women they married were always just a step ahead of them. Their outlook on life was not the same. They did not like the ame company or the same pleasures. The men were the ones to adapt themselves, and they could not, or did not do it.

And so the marriages failed. I am telling you this honestly because you have said you trust me. I do not say you should not marry this girl. I do want to point CANE SUGAR SUGAR REFINING CO. of ttJ.
