and Mrs. Charles Randies Petermans plan 60th occasion 50th jubilee to honor Randleses ELLSWORTH An open house is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, north of Ellsworth, in pre- celebration of the diamond wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.

John Peterman of rural Lincoln. Hosts are the couple's four children: Darlene White of West Columbia, S.C., Dorene Espey of Phoenix, Donald of rural Lincoln and Delvin of rural Salina, and their wives. There are 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Peterman and the former Olga Pedersen were wed Dec. 17,1933, in Lincoln.

They've since lived on the same farm and are retired from farming. The honorees request no gifts. A 2 to 4 p.m. golden wedding anniversary open house for Mr. and Mrs.

Charles Randies, 2202 Edward, is scheduled July 11 at the IOOF Lodge Hall, 401E. Walnut. Entertaining for all friends and relatives will be the honorees' four children, Gary of Kimball, Terry of Topeka; Barbara Jones of Sheridan, and Becky Pruitt of Salina. Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Nelson Mr. and Mrs. Howard Vacek Golden event Vaceks plan set for Nelsons 50th occasion SCANDIA In celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J.

Nelson of Courtland, a 2 to 4 p.m. open house is planned for them July 11 at the Scandia United Methodist Church. Hosts are the honorees' two children, Sam of Chicago, 111. and Margie Chatf ield of Belleville. Assisting will be their six grandchildren and two great- granddaughters.

Nelson and the former Ethel Russell were married July 11, 1943, in Scandia and since have lived in the Courtland area where they still farm. All friends and relatives are invited. The Nelsons request no gifts. ELLSWORTH All friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs.

Howard Vacek (Arlene Bowers) are invited to a 7 p.m. golden wedding anniversary reception for them Saturday, July 10, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall. Hosts are the celebrants' two children, Janet of Phoenix, and Rocky of Topeka. They request no gifts. The Vaceks exchanged wedding vows June 30,1943, in Salina.

They since have farmed, except for his service in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. The couple, who are semi-retired, have lived in Ellsworth for the past 10 years. Glacie McCabe celebrates 80th birthday An 80th birthday open house for Glacie McCabe, 1720 Lewis, is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. July 11 at the Elks Country Club, 1800 Marymount Road.

Entertaining for all friends and relatives will be the honoree's two daughters, Pat Persinger of Grandview, and Sally Shipley, Mo. Mrs. McCabe was born Glacie Harri July 11, 1913, in Brookville where she attended grade school and graduated from high school. After studying at Emporia State University, she married Jack McCabe in 1934. The couple lived near Culver until moving to Salina in 1953.

He died in 1970. Mrs. McCabe was treasurer of School Specialty Supply until retiring in 1979. She requests no gifts. Groveses celebrate 40th anniversary The Salina Country Club was the scene of a ruby wedding anniversary reception Saturday, July 3, for Mr.

and Mrs. Dean Groves, 155 Aspen Road. Hosts were their two children, Randy of Austin, Texas, and Jodi Thierer of Manhattan. There are five grandchildren. A family dinner and renewal of wedding vows followed the reception.

A patio barbecue for family and out- of-town guests was Friday evening at the Groves' home. Groves and the former Betty Conrad were wed June 7,1953, in Salina and lived in Alexandria, wliile he served in the U.S. Army. The couple have been Salina residents for 38 years. Groves, who retired six years ago from the insurance business, is a watercolor artist.

Ruby observance slated for Frownfelters MARQUETTE Mr. and Mrs. Dale Frownfelter, Rt. 2, McPherson, are to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a 2 to 5 p.m. open house July 11 at the Marquette United Methodist Church.

All friends and relatives are invited; they request no gifts. Hosts are the honorees' four chil- dren, Joy Stark of Washington, Gary of Marquette, Mark of Salina and John of Overland Park. There are three grandchildren. Frownfelter and the former Genevieve Zehr were married Feb. 22, 1953, in McPherson and since have lived and farmed 13 miles northwest of McPherson.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schlick Golden day for Schlicks The five children of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schlick, 849 Merrill, are to fete their parents with a 3 to 5 p.m.

50th wedding anniversary open house July 11 at the Holiday Inn-Holidome, 1616 W.Crawford. Mrs. Schlick is the former Theresia Haffner. Entertaining for all friends and relatives will be Patty Wolfe of Lake Mary, Lee of Phoenix, David of Fremont, Don of Colorado Springs, and Bob of Portland, Ore. There are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The Schlicks exchanged wedding vows June 7,1943, in Park. After he served years in the U.S. Air Force, the couple moved to Salina. Schlick retired after 40 years as a cabinetmaker with Salina Planing Mill. The honorees request no gifts.

80th celebration for Esther Wright The three children of Esther Wright, Johnstown Towers, are to honor their mother with a 2 to 4 p.m. 80th birthday open house July 11 at the Sunrise Presbyterian Church. Entertaining for all friends and relatives will be Norma Bottoms of Toronto and Helen Jones and Leroy Metzger of Salina, and their spouses. There are eight grandchildren and Esther Wright 14 great-grandchildren. The celebrant was born Esther Carson July 7, 1913, and since has lived mostly in Salina.

Before retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper at several Sajina businesses. There are 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Miller was born Ethel Scott July 7, 1903, in the Solomon area where she since has lived. Her husband, Ray Miller, is deceased. The celebrant requests no gifts.

1, Box 11, Kanopolis, KS 67454. Mrs. Zavesky is the former Gladys Donley. The celebrants have two children, Cynthia Olson of Arlington, S.D., and Bill Jr. of Kanopolis.

There are six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pearl Kinion has her 90th birthday The Community Room at Wyatt's Cafeteria in Salina's Central Mall is to be the scene of a 90th birthday open house July 11 for Pearl Kinion, 735 S. Ohio. All friends and relatives are invited to the 2 to 4 p.m. event.

Hosts are her two daughters, Gloria Stevens of Long Beach, and Glennis of Topeka, and their husbands. There are eight grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The honoree was born Pearl Alexander July 10, 1903, in Eureka. She lived on a farm near Bennington in Ottawa County after her marriage to C.E. Kinion in 1924.
