Cotner, for nine years the Chief's driver and one of the most popular members of the Department. The Rev. George D.

Jeffrey, of Scovel Memorial Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services at 2 p. in the home of Mr. Cotner's brother Joseph at 13426 Schaefer Highway. Uniformed members of the Department will serve as pallbearers and escort the body to the grave in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Mr.

Cotner, who died late Thursday night in Harper Hospital after an illness of A week, had been a member of Carrel W. Cotner Carrel W. Mr. Cotner Department since 1922. His first four years of service was as 8 pipeman with Engine Company No.

12. Then he became a driver for Chief Israel, remaining with the latter as he rose to become head of the Department. was a valuable aide because he knew the location of alarm box in the City and every needed only the number to take the Chief there by the shortest route. In all his years of driving at breakneck speeds, he never had an accident or even so much as scratched a fender. Born in Pocahontas, 37 years ago, Mr.

Cotner came to Detroit when he was 17 years old and became a fireman six years later. Married, he lived at 13214 Monte Vista with his wife Margaret, Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his father, Joe, and eight brothers and sisters, Miss Ann White Word has been received here of the death in New of Miss Ann White, former Detroiter. For several years she had lived here, being employed in the office of Wesson Seyburn. Two years ago she resigned her position here because of failing health and moved to New York. She is survived by a brother, Harry J.

White, and a cousin, Walter Connolly, Hollywood film actor. Funeral services and burial were at New York. Mrs. Helen M. Brown Requiem high mass for Mrs.

Helen M. Brown, former secretary of the Michigan Bankers' Association, will be held 9 a. m. Saturday in St. Benedict's Church.

Prayers will be said at 8:15 in the William F. Blake Chapel, 78 Peterboro St. Burial be in Mt. Elliott Cemetery, Mrs. Brown died Wednesday at her home, 55 Geneva Highland Park, after a brief illness.

Born on Park near what is now W. Vernor Highway, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late John 1 and Mary O'Callahan. Widely known among Detroit and Michigan bankers, she had served as secretary of the Bankers Association for 20 years, retiring five years ago. She had been active in Catholic circles and at St.

Milligan Requiem high mass will be sung in Our Lady of Help Church at 9 A. m. Monday for Miss Florence Catherine Milligan, of 1396 Mt. Elliott preceded by prayers in the John P. Hallinan Funeral Home, 381 E.

Grand at 8:30. Burial will be in Mt. Elliott Cemetery. Miss Milligan, who died at her home Thursday, after an illness of six months, was born here Sept. 4, 1865.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Milligan and was educated in Sacred Heart Seminary. She was a registered nurse and had lived here all her life. Surviving are three sisters, Margaret, Ellen and Josephine, and a brother, Thomas. She was a sister of the late Prof. James K.

Milligan. Mrs. Julia A. Anderson A long illness resulted in the death in St. Luke's Hospital Friday of Mrs.

Julia A. Anderson, widow of the Rev. John Charles Anderson. The Rev. George Backhurst will conduct funeral services in St.

Luke's Chapel at 2:30 p. m. Monday. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Mrs.

Anderson was born in the Province of Quebec 78 years ago, moved to Bad Axe, when she was 18 years old and 14 years later married Mr. Anderson, then rector of the Episcopal Church there. While she and her huswere here on a visit 17 years ago he was struck by an automobile and died three months later. Since that time she had lived here with her son, John Douglas Anderson, until a year ago when she became ill and went to St. Luke's Hospital.
