Although busy with her four children Kathryn is very interested in the program of the Panhellenic organization. The progrj includes assistance with educational, civic and chiritable projects; these are just a few of the things included in the organization's program and as president Kathryn is die leader in the various projects. But the vivacious Mrs.

Keachleyisalso active in many other organizations. She teaches Sunday School in the Presbyteriar Church, is also a member of the Women of the Church. The whole family enjoys membership in the YMCA and Mr. and Mrs. Keathley are members of the Allegro Dance Club and Texas Exes (there was a feature story about Kathryn in the Abilene Reporter News.) A GREAT VOID bl OUR citizens of Seguin and Guadalupe County can't believe that the man who truly loved Seguin is gone.

The sudden and untimely death of Garfield Kiel has saddened the entire community, for here was a man with enthusiasm, energy and interest in promoting progress for Seguin and especially for Texas Lutheran College. He will long be remembered by the mdny whose lives he touched, for he was kirui nf man who lantilet i who would pluck a and plant a thought a flower would grow. He did the kind of man flower where many kind and thbughtful things for writer will often remerhber a kind act of his in Alpine. His wife, Edith, will know what I am referring to and so through the years many others will tell of the kind things he did and this should bring some degree of comfort to her and to the children and the family. Our sympathy to them.

SORRY TO E. J. Michna underwent surgery Tuesday! at the Nix Hospital. He is in room 2122. His many friends may want to send him a card of cheer.

Our best to" him and we are thinking of him. TWO was my privilege and pleasure 10 sit next to the Key Club sweetheart and the Circle sweetheari at the banquet Weds, night. The two pretty sweetheari were surprised to receive red roses from the clubs. Don't you agree that Connie Bachman and Jackie Hillbr ch are two beauties? It was also my pleasure to sit near the recent groom, James Cooksey; he is a real charmer, Was also real proud of Steve Koehler being e.ected the Key Club president. (He doesn't know it but he is a distant cousin of mine.) Dan Mathis, past president of the Circle Club is a wonderful speaker (wow) and the new president Mark Smith is also gcod, but most of all I was impressed with the many services these boys render and I agree with them in tha they are not going to mow the professors' lawns, ON THE of our young did you like the way the Seguin High School students won over South Sars A Spot" program Si believe the score Antonio, The Se Cage, Bruce Mai really smart, Leeil Bander and them too, AN EAUUY STAR cash in on his las ropef when he le countries.

They were so grateful to Structural Metals Inc. for the beautiful Tower of the Americas which they let them use to accent the show. There were so many pretty and outstanding exhibits that it will be hard to mention them all. The Garden club is also grateful to the local florists who so generously presented them with fresh arrangements emphasizing the theme. Kolbe's had a beautiful heart in white chrysanthemums and red carnations and ribbons and later they were going to give the arrangement to the Collins family in memory of their son who was killed in the Vietnam War and in recognition of all the boys fighting for our country.

The Tim- mcrmann Sisters also presented a large heart of pecan shells and in the center of the heart were yellow roses for the yellow rose of Texas and Brawners Florist Shop also featured beautiful yellow roses in a large arrangement. Naumann's Nursery added much to the decor with large yucca plants and other greenery. Next week will mention some of the outstanding exhibits by the members. Look for pictures this week. FELL OUT OF THE DOG have heard of people being put in the dog house, but have you ever heard of someone falling out of a dog Howard Pruett didn't actually fall out of his dog house tripped over a wire and fell against the dog house and in the fall sprained his shoulder and for that reason he has his arm in a him about the dog house when he waits on you at Vivroux Hardware Co.

When I asked him what had Vivroux said: "You wouldn't believe it." It does seem like a sort of freak accident. CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. RALPH SAGEBIEL At the Texas Dental Convention in San Antonio Dr. Sagebiel was presented with the Order of Good Fellow and a gold emblem and certificate for his 25 years in dentistry. And Seguin has been fortunate in that 23 years of this practice has been in Seguin.

It is also wonderful to learn that his son, Fred Sagebiel, will follow in his father's footsteps. He is an honor student at TLC and will enter Texas School of Dentistry in Houston in Sept. And it appears as though his daughter also has an interest in dentistry for Rosemary, a freshman at TLC will spend two weeks in Mexico this summer as a dental assistant to Dr. Charles Eissler in a mission field. Three cheers for the Sagebiels.

ALSO PARTICIPATING in the mission in Mexico this summer will be two other fine Seguin students, Paul Baumbach and Donna Lenz. This mission is under the direction of the Christian Medical Society of San Antonio. The work is all done free of charge in this poverty area of So we give a big of'applause for these interested young to spend part of their summer in working for the welfare of others less fortunate. THE BAND IS certainly enjoyed the splended music presented by the Navarro Band under the capable direction of Cyrus Parks at the banquet of the Guadalupe County Teachers Forum Thursday night. We especially liked the selections they played from Camelot.

And a VERBAL BOUQUET to Cyrus Parks- conductor of the Navarro can tell that this young man is interested in his work and truly loves it and you just can't beat enthusiasm in one's work Did you know that Cyrus Parks is the grandson of Mrs' Vera Parks, 7QI N. Bowie and the--nephew of Lorna (Mrs. Cecil) McKinney? One more word about this looked good and sounded good as thev marched in the royal session of the Battle of Flowers parade. It was also my pleasure to sit across the table from Mrs. Cyrus certainly also knows beauty when he sees it and she also has a warm personality.

THOUGHT THEY WERE POLITICANS The Navarro Band in preparing for the long march in the Battle of Flowers parade practiced die week before by walking around the farms and the Friedens Church inGeronimo and they imagined the farmers thought they were escorting a Governor candidate or some politician. OLD FRIENDS GET TOGETHER Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Parks were delighted when some of their friends from Colorado Springs dropped by to see them Tuesday of last week.

The friends were Melissa and Herbert Bracey, Bracey and Parks worked together in Mexico way back in 1929-30. In fact it was while in Mexico Mr. Bracey met his was born in Mexico of American parents. Then Parks and Bracey again worked together as engineers in South Texas and in Louisiana, Mr. Bracey is retired now and he and his wife enjoy traveling about die country in their fact they belong to a trailer group.

They were in San Marcos at a National trailer convention where there were some 376 trailers. These people enjoy traveling in a caravan, But Pugs and Margaret Parks said they like Seguin too well to go traveling in a trailer, HERE FROM and Mrs. Harold Lee came to Lake Breeze Ski Lodge Saturday for a few days to relax, to visit HemisFair and to renew friendships in Seguin. It is always good to see them (bet they move back to Seguin one of diese days), ITS OFF TO SIX FLAGS Thurs. when the Matador Band and chaperones will go to Six Flags to participate in the band festival diere and they will spend die night in you know diey wju have fun.
