Local Tuesday, October 5,1999 Kerrvllle Dally Times Page Ballet company prepares world premiere for Kerrville The Kerrville Performing Arts Society is presenting the Saint Petersburg Ballet Theatre for one performance only on Thursday, Oct. 7. The performance will be held at the Municipal Auditorium and will begin at 8 p.m. The Saint Petersburg Ballet Theatre was founded by Konstantin Tatchkine in 1994; its home base is a beautiful theater built for the use of Nicholas II, the last Russian tsar. The touring company numbers 12 dancers who are all graduates of the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St.

Petersburg, the Moscow Ballet Academy or the Perm Choreographic Institute in Perm. The dancers are coached for their performances by former prima ballerina of the Kirov Ballet Svetlana Efremova and also by former Kirov Ballet principal artist, louri Ghumba. Kerrville is the Saint Petersburg Ballet's first stop on its North American tour this fall, which will take them to more than 50 cities in the United States. The dancers will present a three-part evening of classical ballet. In the first part, the dancers will present Act III of the Tchaikovsky ballet "The Sleeping Beauty." The second part of the program will include selections from the classical repertoire, including the pas de deux from England and Scotland in the spring of 1999 and received her commission for "The Diamond Ballet" at that time.

A former soloist with the Fort Worth Ballet, she received her B.A.

and M.F.A. degrees from Texas Christian University. She continued her post graduate pedagogical studies with John Barker of New York and Valentina Roumiantseva of the Vaganova Academy. She is the first American ballet teacher to be sanctioned as a "Certified Practitioner and Teacher of the Teaching Method of Classical Ballet" by the Vaganova Academy. The Saint Petersburg Ballet Theatre invited Aarnio to visit the company during its tour of of both countries," said a spokesman for the Kerrville 1 Performing Arts Society.

Also, attend parent discussion groups that are available and free to parents. Auditions are set for MELISSA WRITTEN 16 upcoming production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." It will show at the Hill Country Arts Foundation Dec. 2-19 in the indoor theater. Performances will be Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Auditions will be Oct.

9,10 a.m to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m., and Oct. 10,2 to 5 p.m., in the pavilion on the campus of the HCAF. The cast calls for four men aged 2540, six women aged 35-60, eight boys aged 8-13 and nine girls aged 5-12. Auditions are open to everyone and no experience is needed.
