Net income was $206,377, or 5 cents a share after preferred dividends, against 1954 net in come of $1,074,945, or 61 cents a share. Anderson said a "disappoint lng" drop in sales-in the com pany'a Eastern division and higher labor costs were responsible for the declines. He also termed the "tax burden" confiscatory. j Buick Buyers Like Hardtop A check of 1955 Buick sales disclosed Monday that the most popular Buick sold was the two-door hardtop Special series, which constituted about 17 per cent of sales last year. The most popular car has a suggested retail delivery price in Flint of $2,413, but the model that sold in greatest volume also was equipped with a raft of "extras" costing about $600 in addition. As part of a public service program, the film will be made available to clubs, civic agencies and educational institutions without charge. The theme of the film Is that public co-operation can successfully reduce traffic fatalities, clear up highway bottlenecks and teach the present generation how to drive safely. Selected from a wide field of examples, the film disclosed what has been accomplished in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, St. Joseph, Mo., and Boston to achieve improved traffic and safety conditions. Ford to Get Giant Platers Ford Motor Co. will have two of the largest plating installations in the world in its Monroe plant of the Parts and Equipment Manufacturing Division next year. Although no price was announced, it was estimated by persons familiar with fully automatic plating plants that the two 750-foot lines of rack-type plating would cost more than 14 million dollars. The first machine is to be installed early next year, ; with completion oi the second line felx months later. McDonnell & Co., New York brokerage firm, discloses in a report on Ford Motor Co. that the company will add about 2,200 new dealers, including the 600 previously announced Continental Mark II franchises. "We expect to see the dealer organization increased significantly over the next five years, in keeping with the company's plans to broaden its coverage of the market," the report states. Olds Sales Hold At 12,000 Level Retail deliveries by Oldsinobile dealers in the second 10 -day period In March were 12,069 cars, according to J. F. Wolfram, general manager. The sales were comparable to the first 10-day period and brought to 107,623 the number of retail sales since Jan. 1. in Danville, 111., into which it will move the operations of Betz Corp., Hammond, Ind., which was acquired last month, S. D. Den Uyl, Bohn president, an nounced. The plant contains 150,000 square feet of space and is located on a 43-acre site. The Betz firm manufactures heat trans fer equipment for commercial refrigeration and air conditioning. Robert P. Ogden has been named plant manager of the Riverview plant of Sharplea Chemical Divi sion of Pennsylvania Salt M a nufacturing Co.
