11 holding firm on her refusal to take a tion to reporter in the new fall 'lineup that debuted Monday worked out an arrangement that we're happy with and Lyn is happy WXIA news director Ron Becker said Wednesday Miss Vaughn whose last day at the station was Sept 14 declined to give details of the financial settle ment on her contract which runs until Dec 31 She said she was pleased with the resolution although three weeks ago she angrily charged that WXIA was guilty of discrimination and breach of contract The 33 year old black newswoman co anchored the 5:30 and 11 pm newscasts for most of her 20 months at WXIA but had been hired as a reporter WXIA replaced her with Chuck Moore at 11 pm and with Andrea Nissen on the 5:30 pm show now called Becker denied an'bias or contract breach in tak ing Miss Vaughn off the anchor desk and noted that WXIA has two blacks arid five women occupying the 21 available spots on six newscasts is a dynamite he said I respect her decision to look for a new Miss Vaughn said she hopes to stay in Atlanta and will continue to pursue a career in TV news CBS News has canceled Lyn Vaughn nounced the network will air at least 12 hours of documentaries during 1985 ran for nine broad casts this summer replacing the Kuralt hosted series which lasted only seven weeks had been panned by CBS News executives as well as TV critics on the other hand won critical acclaim but received low ratings Joyce held out the possibility that CBS might develop another prime time news series in the future He said the 1985 documentaries will use Moyers Walter a good shot sure but she wishes he would do something else many people make it big the way I said the actress Miss Loren has no regrets about her own life but she feels that she had to struggle much more than most people know have a Cinderella she said Just the same had happy moments And achieved more than she ever hoped to She has also won as she well knows an army of admirers around the world Those admirers she be lieves are attracted to her for rea sons that go far beyond her physical beauty And a message she wants to share with other women think I am liked by the people because beautiful Yes I am tall and I look fine But what people love about me not my beauty maybe my character what comes from inside the way I approach people And this lasts much she said most important thing for a person is to have dignity and to have respect for other people and to respect yourself If you respect yourself you respect After she finishes the current tour touting her perfume (she will ap pear at
