A weak punt by Dick Kleppe, Michigan State left half, set the stage for the score. He booted out of bounds on his own 23, a net gain of 12 yards, and the Broncos were quick to seize the opportunity.

It was an air raid which the Wildcats without a Ing superiority in the air. saw three chances to score shattered within a short distance of their rivals' goal. The Spartans lost the ball on downs three times onco on the 7-yard marker In the second period and twice more in the final quarter, on the 6 and 3-vard lines. Santa Clara Held Santa Clara, aside from the touchdown thrust that won the game, was In Michigan State territory three other times but none developed Into serious scoring threats. This culminated a 38-yard advance which was instigated and conducted by Graham. for the remainder of the afternoon the Wildcats marched and passed, mostly in Michigan territory. But the Michigan line, though lifnt at times, was equal to the lpst in the last half although Northwestern once advanced to Michigan's six-yard line and again to the seven-yard stripe with seconds to go. Bob retted 97 yards for the Wolverines v'i'h a display of sheer plunging power and agility which rocked the Wildcat defenses almost from the start. Westfall started operating on the Northwestern line the first time Michigan had the ball. The Wolverines started from thpir 22 jnrt banked their way 78 yards Kuzma's fourth-down touchdown pass to Fraumann. At that, he Wolverines had to score this tou hdown twice. Turn to Page 6, Column 1 Detroit's Titans, their unbeaten record threatened by a surprising Oklahoma Aggie attack, stormed the stubborn Cowboy defense with Elmer Madarik's dead-shot passes in the second quarter today to win, 20 to 14.

The Cowboys brought the 6,000 spectators to their feet by taking the opening kickoff and driving 63 yards to score. The Titans could not click, and in the second quarter the Aggies struck again, Intercepting a pass and scoring from 42 yards out, The Rally's On Then the red-shirted visitors showed the stuff which has kept their record clean, passing and lateraling through a demoralized Aggie defense for three touchdowns with bewildering speed. As an example of Detroit's razzle-dazzle, the Titans uncorked a double lateral that swept 42 yards for their second touchdown. Standing on the Aggie 42, Madarik hit Joe Gensheimer with a pass on the Aggie 30. Gensheimer lateralel on the run to Vance Banonls, who flipped the ball to John Biringer on the 20, then hurled a crushing block at the last two Aggie defenders as Biringer made it easily to the goal.

The Aggies Drive Al Scanland, an Aggie find of a week ago, sparked the first Oklahoma drive. Alternating with Lea Younger, he drove In short rushes to the Detroit 18 In four successive first downs from the Aggie 37. Scanland then lipped a bullet pass to Lonnie Jones, who had slipped behind Detroit's defenders, for a touchdown. A 15-yard roughing penalty against Detroit helped to set up the second Cowboy counter. Bob Hargrove started it by Intercepting one of Madarik's passes on the Titan 42.
