ROCK DRUG STORE The Prescription Drug Store Comfort and Kerrville to Play for Pennant of Mountain League AVhile Kerrville was being defeated by Boorne Sunday, Alamo Heights dropped out, of the- Mountain League, with the. result the "little world series" for the championship of the league will be played oft between Comfort and Kerrvilli'. A meeting- will lie held during the latter part of the week to determine the schedule of names in the championship play-off.

Kerrville fans and players were keenly disappointed in A 1 a Heights dropping ut tno ifi.gue, as they say this is tin- second time the Alamo Heights team has the league when Kerrville was tin- team which was the runner-up in the league and entitled to play for 111'- 1 championship of the league. ENTHltS S. A. l.K.UiUr: Alamo Heights gave us its reason for (iiiittiiig the league that it desired to enter the San Antonio winter league which will open ils season within a short time. II has been a meml.i.T of the winter league I'm 1 several seasons past.

Comfoit is hnl.ling second place in the league, and a.s a result of the name with Hoorne is one-half game behind Kerrville in the league standing. will play the local team for the championship of the league starting in about a week or ten days. The postponed game with Alamo Heights, which was to have been played next Sunday goes by the board, since the Heights team withdrew from the league. In the game with Hoenic Sunday Hie Kerrville team was badly off form and played one of the raggedesi games of the season, while Hie error column did not show the pep and dash which il. has shown in former games with the result they could not Hie small lead which Hoerile piled up in the game.

10 HITS While Kerrville was trailing 1 the lioerno team by a score of to 2, it made 10 hits, but the hits were not timely and they could not rout Un- tieing or winning runs across the plate. Boerne also had ils batting clothes on. The team made 10 hils off the Kerrville pitcher, but tin were also scattered. The two errors which Kerrville made seemed to take the pel) out of Hie team and the listless game was the n-sult. While the loss of the name did not change the league siamling in any way, yet the inning of the game would have dcfi.iiiely decided 'hat Kerrville was to have played Alamo Heights instead of l'oinfoi-l, a.s the winning of the game would have put Comlort out of the running for second place.

With Alamo Heights dropping- out of the league, Kerrville takes first lila.ee, and Comfort takes second place. The directors of the league will announce the "little world series" schedule Thursday. Patriarch County's Taxable Values Show Drop for Coming 12 Months County Schools to Be Opened on September 11 to 18 County Judge John H. Atkins is completing the details for the opening of the Kerr County schools outside of the two independent school districts of the county, Kerrville and Center Point. The school census for Kerr County shows there are 712 persons of school age in the schools, but the number in attendance will be less than this number a.s a. percentage of those of school age do not attend school for one reason or another. It is expected that this drive will not get under way for at least the next few days. The Rev. 11 Smith, general of the NRA for Kerr County, slates that the committees in charge of the different branches of the work are still working out details in the efforts which will be undertaken to keep up the drive which has been started. VUiniANKNT -101IS Complete checking- of the drive on manpower in Kerrville by the committee under the leadership of Scott Sihreiner discloses that out of the 105 new positions by the employers of the city putting additional persons to work, that of the secured permanent positions. There are only 15 out of the 105 new places created which are part, lime positions and which cull for the minimum wages under the part-time codes.

The 105 new positions created by 111-- NKA manpower drive have added to the monthly payrolls of the firms which have employed additional help under the NRA drive. The greater part of those securing permanent positions in the NRA drive found them in the business houses of the city. The decrease of about ill assessed valuation of propel ty for purposes of taxation in Kerr County was in a. large measure responsible for the increase In the tax rate fixed by the County Commissi niers for Hie year IHSS, which amounts to eight cents on the $100 of valuation. Mr. Nichols says the decrease was due to the depression lowering- tho value of both real and personal property.
