Fred Simmons. All-American Candidate To Face NAIA 5 GROVE CITY--NAIA ment-bound Edinboro State will get a chance on Monday night to do what no team has been able to do all season-stop Grove City College's All-American Candidate Jeff Claypool when the Wolverines come to Edinboro to tangle with the Highlanders. The Wolverines were 12-3 through Friday. Grove City had a seven-game winning streak going into Carnegie Mellon game today. If it goes to eight it will be the longest streak at Grove City in 43 years.

Claypool, Grove City's sensational junior, 6-7 from Lexington, Ohio, broke another longstanding record on Thursday night when he scored 42 against Clarion State. This was a Grove City floor record and topped Dutch Leonard's 41 points in 1956. Claypool was averaging 30.3-| points-per-game through with 454 points in 15 games. He is currently in the top 12 College Division players in the try, according to NCAA statistics. His career total now stands at 1,470 points in his three-year career, with four games left on the Grove City schedule, he is almost certain to top the 500-point mark this year and could attain 2,000 points in his senior year.

The lanky star is also nearing the nation's leaders in both field goal percentages and in rebounding. Jeff has a .586 field goal average, which places him in the top 25 in the country, and is averaging 15.6 rebounds per game, also high up in rebounding circles. Grove City's most productive scorer, has lots of help as the Wolverines try for their best won-lost percentage record in several decades. Joining Claypool in the lineup will be Jim Zeigler, 6-9, sophomore from Munhall; John Cochran, 6-2, sophomore from Lexington, Ohio; Dick Bratt, 6-2, sophomore from Tallmadge, Ohio; and Larry Dudek, 6-0, sophomore from Massillon, Ohio..
