It's all I have. Thank you. Plenty Upset. Dear Plenty: The less hallabaloo the better. An announcement now would be difficult to explain.

The most sensible proach now would be to drop a note to your closest friends and the immediate family. Tell them your daughter was married several months ago and just made the fact known. The others will get the word soon enough. Dear Ann Landers: Mine will probably be the least urgent and least significant letter of the year, but I have a gripe that has irritated me for along time. have been attending club meetings, banquets and civic affairs for 30 years.

When in heaven's name will the chairmen of these meetings get smart and stop rattling off the names of dozens of people who worked in the kitchen, arranged the flowers, sold the tickets and donated the center pieces? After each name, there is a pause. of course the audience is expected to applaud. These dreadful little bursts are an imposition and an embarrassment. What possible honor can it be to have one's name read off with 34 others? Of course, everyone wants recognition, but the sane way to satisfy these hungry egos is to print their names in the monthly bulletin or in the program. Most luncheon and banquet programs are too long and boring at best.

I don't know of a single affair which could not have been made more enjoyable by dropping this inane practice. Outspoken. Dear Outspoken: You've been reading my mind. Miss Corwin graduated from La Grande Senior High School with the class of '61. She also attended Eastern Oregon College.

She complained that her 21-year-old son receives the icicle treatment from his stepfather and the cold war between the two was making her physically ill. I am a step-dad who has a similar situation, but the shoe is on the other foot. My wife's son is 16.

I hope you'll print this letter for the benefit of women with children who remarry. ment of readers than you may realize. I say if the shoe fits, women, wear it. Dear Ann Landers: Our 20- year-old daughter told us yesterday that she and her boyfriend were married secretly last February. Would it be proper to send out wedding announcements? Should we give a reception? My husband feels we should submit her picture to the paper and do nothing more. I suppose it would help you to answer more intelligently if you knew whether or not a baby is on the way.
