MEDFORD, OREGON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29, 1963 Father Officiates At Marriage Rites When Miss Glyndon Ruth Hunter and Robert Edward MeDowell were wed December 21 in Medford First Presbyterian Church, the father of bridegroom officiated for the ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hunter, 1960 Crestbrook Road, Medford and the bridegroom's parents are the Rev.

and Mrs. James McDowell, Port Angeles, Wash. The Rev. Mr. McDowell, a First Baptist minister, performed the rites at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a long bellskirted gown of peau de soie with chapel train. The longsleeved lace jacket buttoned at the back. Her mantilla-styled veil, of Belgian lace held from a crown trimmed with seed pearl flowers, had been purchased in Sweden and was loaned by a college friend of the bride. The bridal flowers were red roses arranged cascade. Sister Attends Bride Miss Diana Mae Hunter, Portland, a sister of the bride, was honor attendant and another sister, Miss Veda Joy Hunter, was bridesmaid.

Mrs. Delbert Mayfield, Central Point was the bridesmatron. Lighting the candles were Carolyn and Kathy Ruth Shodin, Bellview, cousins of the bride. The bride's attendants wore Christmas green satin floor length gowns and carried white fur muffs decorated with sprigs of holly. Their green satin pillbox hats were trimmed with holly encircled in net.

The candlelighters wore white choir robes. Gilbert Cuddeback, Eugene, a student at Linfield College, served as best man. Stewart Young, and William McDowell, Pullman, a brother of the bridegroom, seated the guests. White chrysanthemums and holly decorated the church. Attendant Sings Miss Diana Mae Hunter, the honor attendant, sang and Mrs.

N. S. Thames was organist. The bride's mother was dressed in a cranberry red velvet sheath, frock and her corsage gardenias. The bridegroom's mother chose a light green brocade jacket dress and she wore a red rosebud corsage.

Some 200 guests attended the ceremony and about 150 were at the reception given by the bride's parents in the church rooms. Mrs. Fred Landers, al former Sunday School teacher of the bride, had charge of the reception and serving the wedding cake, punch and coffee were bride's attendants. For traveling, the bride wore a cranberry red dress and coat ensemble with matching fur felt hat. After January 1 the couple will be living at 217 South Baker Street, McMinnville, where the bridegroom is a senior student at Linfield College.

The bride is a Medford High School graduate and she has attended Southern Oregon College, George Fox College, and Oregon State College from which she was graduated, receiving her degree in political science. Until her marriages she was employed worker in state aid to dependent children program in Portland. She will continue in the same field in McMinnville. The bridegroom is working toward his master's degree, planning to, teach, literature and other subjects in this area. Out of town guests at the wedding included Mr.

and Mrs. E. Clyde Duerr, San Francisco, grandparents of the bride; the Rev, and Mrs. Ray Shodin, children, Stephen, Caroline and Kathy Ruth, uncle, aunt cousins of the bride; Mr. and Mrs.

A. K. Kaser, Gresham; Mr. and Mrs. John Fianigan, Corbett, and Mrs.

William McDowell, Pullman. Alaskans Visit Relatives Here Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ellis and children, Miss Ruth Marie Ellis, and William John Edward Eugene and Steven Richard Ellis, are visiting for the holidays from Anchorage, Alaska, with Mr. Ellis' parents, Mr.

and Mrs. H. B. Ellis, Sams Valley. The visitors are former Medford residents.

They lived here for about eight years while Mr. Ellis was a member of the Bureau of Reclamation staff working on the Talent Project. They have lived at Anchorage for the past one and one half years. Mr. Ellis now is a cadastral surveyor with the Bureau of Land Management.

Their daughter, Miss Ruth Marie Ellis, is a student at Pacific Lutheran College, Tacoma, Wash. To Islands ASHLAND Mrs. Lorena McNair, Oak Street, flew to Portland the day before Christmas to join a party which will tour the Hawaiian Islands for two weeks. Findley-Leek Rites Miss Patricia Ann Leek became the bride of Dwight Holmes Findley in two o'clock afternoon rites held Saturday, December 21, in Medford First Methodist Church. Dr. George Roseberry officiated. The wedding and the reception which followed were among the large social gatherings of the season, with about 300 guests attending. The bride is a daughter of Mr.

and Leek, 1530 West Main Street and the bridegroom is a son of Dr. and Mrs. D. H. Findley, 737 Stevens Street.

Mr. Leek escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The bride's gown was of peau de twille with fitted bodice, tapered sleeves and Sabrina neckline. The full skirt was accented, at the back with a self-material bow and designed with chapel train. A crown of seed pearls held her elbow length veil and she carried white roses and orchids.

Mrs. Steven Wisely, Eagle Point, was matron of honor and Mrs. Kenneth Leek, Portland, a sister-in-law and Mrs. Robert Glover, Grants Pass, were bridesmatrons. Miss Betty Arnold, Long Beach, was the bridesmaid.

Wear Gold Brocade Their frocks were of gold brocade with A-line skirts and Sabrina necklines. They, carried bouquets of chrysanthemums. William Cochran, Grants Pass, was best man. Seating the guests were Leroy Neeley, Bend; Gordon Smith, Dallas, Malcolm McNeil, and Walter Garner, both Portland, and Arthur Ekerson, Medford. White flocked trees hung with golden balls, and baskets of chrysanthemums decorated the church.

Maynard Hadley was soloist. The reception was given by the bride's parents in Mon Desir Dining Inn. Mrs. Alton Anderson and Mrs. Frank Boone received the guests.

Serving the cake were Mrs. Neeley, and Mrs. Cochran. Pouring punch were Mrs. Gerald Bartz, Salem, Miss Joann Kerr, and Miss Carma Hovdey, both Portland.

Mrs. Ekerson served the coffee. Mrs. Oris Thetford, Portland registered the guests. For her daughter's wedding Mrs.

Leek wore a green brocade dress with jacket and beige and green accessories. Her corsage was an orchid. The bridegroom's mother chose a blue peau de twille frock with matching accessories and she wore a gardenia corsage. To Lake Tahoe The couple made their wedding trip to Lake Tahoe. Their home is at 10825 Southwest Barned Road, 3, Portland.

The bride's traveling attire was a light green knit suit with camel colored mohair coat, and velvet, hat. Her corsage was an orchid. The bride and her family have lived in this vicinity for the past 13 years and the bridegroom was born and reared i in Medford. town guests included Mrs. Robert Wulf and sons, Robert Wulf and Mark Wulf, and Mr.

and Mrs. Bartz, all Salem; Mr. and Mrs. A. L.

Lent, Grants Pass; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thompson a nd Mrs. James Tetrick and son, Todd Lee Tetrick, all Klamath Falls. Mrs.

Bartz is a sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. Lent his cousin. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Tetrick are aunts of the bride.

Following the wedding rehearsal the bridegroom's parents entertained at dinner in Rogue Valley Country Club. Twenty four guests attended. Gold and green decorations in the Christmas theme were used. The bride attended Medford High School and Southern Oregon College. She is a teacher in the Beaverton School System.

The bridegroom attended the same schools and also Portland State University, He is associated with Dean Vincent, Portland. Holiday parties, varying from small groups of close friends to large events in homes and private clubs, are being given this week end and New Year's Eve. Snow and ski fans, of course, are taking every opportunity to indulge in their favorite wintertime sport and especially welcome the snow falling in the close-by hills. Rogue Valley Country Club will be the scene of the traditional gala New Year's Eve formal dance and dinner party. Many new club members will attend the annual event for the first time, and other members have houseguests who have returned here to attend the gay party, as they have done for the past several years. Year's. Friday evening Eugene Bennett, the artist, invited a group of friends and relatives to his home on Third Street in Jacksonville for a holiday dinner. The house, almost 100 years old, has been renovated by Mr. Bennett and furnished with heirlooms and antiques in keeping with the house and historic Jacksonville.

His holiday decorations include a copy of his Christmas greeting to friends, which consisted of the alphabet in large, illustrated letters of the year 1884, hung on the door pane. Scores of Christmas cards and greetings from friends are arranged throughout the various rooms. and Mrs. Jerry Olson entertained at a cocktail party Friday evening in the home of the Olsons, 100 South Groveland Avenue. Mayor and Mrs. James Dunlevy were hosts last Sunday for a dinner which observed the 18th birthday anniversary of their daughter, Judy. Guests included former Mayor John Snider and Mrs.

Snider, whose birthday anniversary falls on the same day as that of the honored guest. Dr. and Mrs. S. Ralph Dippel, 1 Eastwood Drive, plan to entertain this afternoon at dinner honoring Mrs.

Dippel's brotherin-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Eubanks, in observance of their wedding anniversary. Other invited guests are Mr. and Mrs.
