SECOND SECTION PACES 11 TO 22 ITY ITl I YEAR Mrs MacDougall Loses All But 2100 of Her Biq Lead in Winthrop Contract Tourney Mrs Joseph MacDougall of Mystic retained first place in the contract bridge tournament of John Winthrop club following last night's play in the 15th session of a series of 20 but her seemingly large lead of about 12000 points melted way under her minus score of 1990 while the two next highest contestants were taking first and second prizes on scores of plus 8010 and 6830 irst awards went to Arthur'M Beckwith and George Grout the former advancing from sixth to fourth place only 1570 behind Elmer Jayne who holds third position in the race Grout who went into second place last week is now just 2100 points behind Mrs MacDougall while Jayne who played last 'night with Dr Shay took second prize for 6830 putting him 6870 below the sec ond place holder Beckwith and Grout completed a run of great luck having in this third division of play taken one first and two second prizes and had large plus scores for the other two nights so that their division total is 28760 and should neither finish among the three first they will receive the division award of $2 As contestants may not play with the same partner more than five times in the series each must have a new partner for the suc ceeding five nights Their pheno menal run of luck in this division brought them up from the mediocre scores of 11220 and 2780 into the running for the series prizes In contrast Mrs James Hanley of Mystic who won the second divi sion play by total of 26260 and ran to a top figure of 31590 has had five bad minus scores in the third division of play totalling minus 20760 thus taking away two thifds of her accumulated points President Elmer Jayne of the Winthrop club' who
