H. RANDALL ADDRESSES W.C.T.U. Brewers, Politicians and Rich Men Want Repeal, Sayre Pastor Declares Politicians, brewers and some men of great wealth are the chief actors in the move of the repeal of 18th amendment Rev. F. H.

Randall, pastor of the Church of Christ, told the members of the Sayre W.C.T.U. who met in the Sayre Baptist church yesterday. Mr. Randall declared the government has never made money out of liquor, "The advocates of repeal tell us how much we got in revenue; they never tell us how much it cost the United States to care for the product of the legalized liquor traffc. While we would not I do evil that good should come, beer will play a big part in helping to retain the 18th amendment," he declared and added, "The Christian church should be aroused out of its indifference and regardless of what happens, continue to fight for righteousness." The opening prayer was given by Mrs.

Clarence Tebo of the evangelistic party now conducting a revival at the Baptist church and several instrumental numbers were played by Mr. and Mrs. Tebo and Miss Eleanor Ostrander. Mrs. Anna Bull was named chairman of the entertainment commitete for the coming regional conference to be held in Sayre.

On her committee are the Sayre church vice-presidents, Mrs. Mabel Northrup of South Waverly, Mrs. Verne Struble of East Athens, and Mrs. Loomis of Athens. Mrs.

James Rymell, chairmon; Mrs. Anna Hancock, Mrs. Pearl Johnson and Mrs. Wilson constitute the music commitee. Music numbers presented yesterday included a vocal solo by Mrs.

Rymell, a duet by Misses Dorothy Larabee and Irene Bissell and a trio, Misses Jean VanGorder, Elaine Edsall and Irene Bissell. A resolution, offered by Mrs. Florence Lyons, was unanimously adopted by a rising vote. In part it was as follows: "Be it resolved that because alcohol is a poison and science has demonstrated that voluntary total abstinence promotes health, prolongs life, increases efficiency, saves money and is essential to safety in these days of automobiles, airplanes and high powered machinery and the only absolute safeguard against drunkenness, "And because we believe that 3.2 beer is intoxicating and its sale a violation of the constitution of the United States, we, the members of the Sayre Women's Christian Temperance Union, will patronize those places of business where they do not handle intoxicating beverages of any kind." Gillette Acts To Aid State Trade Representative's Resolution fered in House and Concurred in by Senate Requests Hospitals to Buy in Pennsylvania A move to induce state-aided institutions to do their trading in Pennsylvania as far as possible was made by Representative son D. Gillette in the House at Harrisburg yesterday.

Mr. Gillette introduced a resolution which was agreed on by the lower body and in the afternoon was agreed on by the Senate also. The resolution said that the present unemployment situation in the Commonwealth "is due to the shutting down of many industries caused by the failure of such industries to dispose of their products." The resumption of these industries would mean the re-employment of many persons, the increase of purchasing power by the payment of wages, and the gradual return of prosperity, the resolution says. STEEL PARTICLE EMBEDDED IN EYE Robert O'Mara, 31, of Wyalusing, while using a cold chisel in a Wyalusing garage yesterday afternoon, suffered a painful injury to his right eye. HAMPTON HUFF Interesting Articles Read at Gathering of Athens Presbyterian Group Sayre Personals Borough Manager Ray Nobles Refuses to Produce Pay Rolls of Relief Work for Audit to Determine Amount of Premium Claimed Due Austin Mullen, of Wilkes-Barre auditor for the State Workmen's Insurance fund, and George Guilliam of the same city, supervisor of the fund for the northeastern district, arrived in Sayre today to go over the pay rolls of the borough. However up to late this alternoon they had not seen the pay rolls as they were locked in the safe at the town hall and Borough Manager Ray Nobles declared they would remain there unless some higher local authorities instructed him otherwise. The admitted object of the insurance fund in seeking an audit of the pay rolls is to arrive at the amount for which Sayre borough will be charged for compensation insurance. This would be about $3000 for the first three months of this year according to the rate for work done under the state relief plan.

Local authorities are taking the stand that the borough is not liable for the exorbitant rate of $1 per week per man regardless of whether he works one or six days during the week. An agreement concerning compensation insurance for the men employed under the relief plan. was made with state fund by the borough last fall and it was understood that the same rate applied to other borough work, namely $1.63 per $100 pay roll, would apply to the relief work. Since notification of the $1 per week per man rate was received here about two weeks ago, there has been no work done 1 in Sayre under the relief plan.
