Nov 24 2007 PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2007 WWW.POST-GAZETTE.COM B-6 By Claire Noland Los Angeles Times Michael Blodgett, an actor best known for his role as Lance Rocke in the 1970 cult film the Valley of the who went on to write novels and screenplays, died on Nov. 14 at his Los Angeles home of an apparent heart attack, his ex-wife Lanetta Blodgett said. He was 68. Mr. Blodgett found early success as a television host, first in 1967 as the emcee of a beach-party pop-music program that aired on a Los Angeles TV station.

Appearing bare-chested with white duck pants and long, curly blond hair, he interacted with the teenage audience and interviewed the musical guests. The next year he switched to more serious fare with Michael Blodgett on another station. The 90-minute talk show ran Saturday nights and featured such guests as composer Henry Mancini, actresses Connie Stevens and Agnes Moorehead and comedian Pat Paulsen. By 1970, he had resumed acting on TV and in movies, including the Valley of the the X-rated film about an all-girl rock roll band that was directed by Russ Meyer and written by film critic Roger Ebert. That same year he also appeared in the Kirk Douglas western Was a Crooked and a year later starred in Velvet Mr.

Blodgett switched his focus to writing novels in the 1970s, and some of his stories were later turned into movies. He had a best-seller with the 1982 thriller and then teamed with writing partner Dennis Shryack. Mr. Blodgett and Mr. Shryack turned Mr.

and the published in 1982, into a screenplay for the 1988 Chuck Norris martial arts movie. The pair also co-wrote the screenplays for the 1989 Tom Hanks comedy and and the 1987 Burt Reyn- olds action movie On his own, Mr. Blodgett adapted his novel White for the screenplay of the 1998 action thriller set in World War II and wrote the screenplay for a 1991 mob movie. Born Sept. 26, 1939, in Minneapolis, he attended the University of Minnesota and began acting in his hometown before moving to Los Angeles.

Father Gloninger was ordained on May 26, 1956 and served as Secretary to Bishop Leonard from 1969 to 1971, during which time he served as the Diocesean Vocation Director. He served as Pastor to St. Sylvester Church from 1971 to 1989, and as Pastor of St. Paul Church (Butler) from 1989 until his retirement in 2001. Father Gloninger also served as a Diocesean Tribunal Judge, the Dean of the South Hills Deanery and the Dean of the Butler Deanery.

Aloysius), age 87, died Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2007, at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity in Greensurg. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Mary (Higginbottom) Jorden, five brothers: Clyde Ralph Thomas Robert M. and Raymond Jorden and a sister, Violet (Jorden) Michel, she is survived by nieces and nephews. A native of Bridgeport, Ohio, Sister Isabelle entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on July 1, 1943, from Saint Anthony Parish, Bridgeport, Ohio.

She earned a degree in psychology from Seton Hill University, a nursing diploma as a registered nurse, from Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing and a degree in counseling and guidance from Duquesne University. Prior to her distinguished nursing career, Sister Isabelle taught students in the Greensburg and Pittsburgh diocesan schools. Sister Isabelle ministered as a nursing supervisor at the former Pittsburgh Hospital from 1948-1957, and as an instructor in the school of nursing, 1957-1958. From 1959-1965, she was assigned as a nursing supervisor at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital, now Mercy Jeannette. She served as nursing supervisor at the former Roselia Founding and Maternity Hospital from 1967-1969.

In 1969, Sister Isabelle was named assistant dean of students at Seton Hill University and then became the coordinator of health and counseling services at the university from 1970-1986. In 1981, Sister Isabelle was certified in adult primary care as a nurse practitioner by the University of Pittsburgh. She was then appointed manager and co-manager, 1986-1999, of Gilbert Straub Plaza, an apartment complex for senior citizens in South Greensburg. Sister Isabelle retired to Caritas Christi in 1999. Provincial Superior of the Sisters of Charity stated, Isabelle loved being in the healing profession and was a nurse and nurse practitioner par excellence! Pleasant, after a long, severe illness and having received extended care for several years. Leo was born Sept. 13, 1927 in Connellsville, a son of the late Joseph R. and Jane J. Duncan King.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was retired from the and CSX railroads, where he was a master machinist for 42 years. Leo graduated from Connellsville High School, where he excelled in basketball and football and was on the 1945 ball team that won its section title. Leo graduated in 1945 and attended East Kentucky University on a football scholarship. He then served in the Navy.

He was a regular member of Connellsville Elks, Moose and Eagles. Leo enjoyed all sports, but was partial to certain teams, such as the Steelers, Notre Dame, Pitt and Penn State. Leo is survived by two sons, Anthony J. King and wife Lisa of Charlotte, NC and Edward L. King Jr.

of Penn Hills; a daughter, Patricia Ann Falcone of White Oak; two grandsons, Anthony and Joseph King; a brother, Patrick H. King and wife Claira of Pittsburgh; a sister, Catherine J. Goron and husband, Raymond of Greensburg; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Mascia King and two brothers, Joseph R. King Jr.

Born November 13, 1938 in Salavacava, Italy, he was the son of the late Luciano and Pasqualina Marricco. Mr. Marricco was owner of Winky's Restaurant, Jolly Roger Drive-In, and several Mister Donuts and Dunkin Donuts. He was an avid accordion player, stained glass artist, author and entrepreneur. He enjoyed showing antique aguars, as well as landscaping, gardening and traveling.

Mr. Marricco is survived by his wife, Mitzi Todorich Marricco of 46 ears; one daughter, Eleanor Christopher and her husband, James of Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania; one brother, John Marricco and his wife, Audrey, of Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Vincie Piccolino and her husband, Alex, of Murrysville, Pennsylvania and Lena Piccolino and her husband, Anthony, of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; number of nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
