B4 THE DAILY PROGRESS Charlottesvnte Virginia Saturday January 1 1 994 Entertainment NBC shakes things up for Life9 debut By PATRICIA BRENNAN Washington Post NBC begins tinkering with its format this week premiering Good Life at 8:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday Next week Good set tles in Tuesday just before John Laroquette at 9 and in the 9:30 slot Good Life" from the folks who brought you Simp and With Chil focuses on John Bowman (John Caponera) a likable fellow with a pretty wife three standard sitcom kids two boys one girl and a job managing a small secur 1 ity warehouse in a Chicago suburb the workplace that sets us and Justin Berfield are the kids and Drew Carey and Monty Hoff man play the guys at Honest Abe Security Products In one episode Maureen stages her own avant garde play Cycle of Womanhood" and John decides that must be her way of telling him unhappy in their marriage In another 15 year old Paul brings home a new girlfriend who is a Buddhist and becomes so entranced with her religion that John and Maureen worry re jecting their values One of the installments includes a nod to landmark series Civil It seems that 7 year old son Bob has taped an episode of over the first installment of co the episode three characters quote passages from Sullivan last love letter to his wife Sarah That story line has its roots in life back in Chicago where he grew up in a large family with four sisters and a brother and three dozen cousins actually happened to said Caponera was This guy used to come into Comedy Club in Chicago and we got to be buddies He had the whole nine hours of edited out all the commercials the whole nine yards been able to see it be cause of working at night so I took the tapes home at put them on top of the television So one day I put on the first tape and I hear a story about a man named Brady One of my sisters had taped "The Brady on top of it What was I supposed to do?
