Dr. Sonner FOOT SPECIALIST Has Resumed Practice At The An on-the-spot inspection of construction work on the new wing at Valley Crest was conducted by County Commissioner E.

C. Wideman chairman of the county Institution District, and a report was made to the district board Tuesday at the courthouse. Wideman slated that construction is approximately 787c complete and the target date of July 1 for the completion is expected to be a reality. The project, which will cost approximately for construction, will provide an additional 103 beds. Valley Crest now has 284 patients.

Commissioner Wideman reported that all concrete work has been completed and partitions are being installed. He said the wiring and plumbing will be completed shortly and then insulation will be installed. He was high in his praise of the planning which was Patterson Dist. 25 favorite Leroy Patterson, Madisonville, appears to be the favorite of United Mine Workers of America locals in District 25 for the office of union president. Patterson won nomination from 34 of the 44 locals in the district, according to a tally reported Tuesday.

All area locals have conducted nomination sessions for international union officers. As of Tuesday, locals could begin holding nominating meetings for the offices of international executive board member, district president, district secretary-treasurer and sub-district executive board members. Incumbent UMWA President Arnold Miller won the nomination of 10 locals, while a third candidate, Harry Patrick, won only one nomination. The total number of nominations is 45 due to a tie in one local. Patrick currently serves as UMWA secretary-treasurer.

Patterson is an international executive board member from District 23 in Kentucky. He was once a supporter of UMWA President W. A. "Tony" Boyle. Miller won the union presidency in 1972 as head of a reform slate that included Patrick and, on the District 25 level, William Savitsky as candidate for District 25 international executive board member.

Savitsky is one of the few Miller supporters left on the 1KB. Savitsky also faces opposition in his bid for reelection to the 1KB. That campaign is shaping up as a bitter fight, chiefly on the issue of pension payments to retired anthracite miners. There are about 2,400 active miners in District 25 and about 14,000 retired miners. The numberof UMWA locals has been sharply reduced by merger.

Candidates for international offices must obtain nominations from 25 locals in the union. Those seeking district offices must secure nominations from one-fifth of the locals in the district. False fire alarm from Milncsville Firemen from the Hazle Township Volunteer Fire Company were called to Milnesville at 9:01 m. Tuesday after receiving a telephone call that a house was afire. Upon arriving they discovered it was a false alarm.

Prior to responding to the call, the fire company responded to an alarm at First and Thompson Streets where they relieved the city's 14th Ward Fire Com-' pany which was fighting a brush fire near a home in that area. ALARM MALFUNCTIONS The burglar alarm system at the First Federal Savings and Loan 12 E. Broad malfunctioned at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday causing city police to respond. Officials of the institution were summoned to the scene and determined that all was secure.
